I’ve used the Dap DryDex spackling for small wall repairs, and it works exactly as promised. The pink color when applied makes it easy to see where you’ve patched, and it dries white so you know when it’s ready to sand and paint.It spreads smoothly, fills holes and cracks well, and sands down without crumbling. Great for nail holes, dings, and small repairs on both interior and exterior surfaces. Bought the 1/2 pint to fill in a couple screw holes and it’s more than enough. Super easy to work with and dries quickly. The pink “indicator” of the spackle helps figure out if it’s dry or not. Exactly what anyone looking for spackle needs.

Does as it says! The first hole I patched was rather large (maybe 1 inch deep, 2 inches wide) from a ripped down curtain rod (thanks to my cats) and it went on pink and slowly dried to white - however it did crack as it dried. Though I think the crack happened because the size of the hole and it was my first time using a spackle like this. Going to go over it again with another coat. I patched a smaller couple of holes from a small ding and a nail hole and they covered up and dried perfectly so I’m sure it’s user error on the large patch!

The brand that makes this product “DAP” has what seems like over 100 different drywall repair compounds and they all seem to be pretty alike with no major note-Abel differences. so I was not sure which to buy. I went with the “Dry Dex” version and am pretty happy with it, product works great on small/minimal drywall repairs. Very DIYER friendly and all you really need for repairing is a putty knife and prior proper prep work. You’ll need to sand before you paint anything over this compound or the texture from the compound will show thru paint. That’s about it for my review. Overall would buy again and is good to have on hand for those incidents that involve drywall.

Yes, this is spackling, which is another word for patching compound. Easiest and fastest way to apply this is with a credit card. And when it dries, you can sand it smooth. Or not. It depends on what texture surface you are repairing. Some ceilings are rough-textured, and DryDex excels on those. When it's wet, it's pink which makes it easier for you to tell which is the spackle and which is the surface you're trying to patch up. When it's dry, it's white.
