First tried them in Belgium, visiting a friend, and wanted more. Bolo to the rescue. They are great alone or with coffee. I could go through this box in a week easily. lol. I have a sweet tooth. The flavor is light a buttery. So delicious, I want to buy another box while writing this review. Get them if you haven't tried them yet. You will not be disappointed.
5.0 out of 5 stars Crisp, buttery, melt-in-your-mouth mana from heaven, ambrosial flavor paradise in your mouth
What can I say, these little numbers are so mouth-wateringly delectable that they make me think of bacon—like they are the sweet version of bacon. I don’t say that lightly my friends. If you knew me you would know I take a backseat to no man or four-legged beast in my appreciation for bacon and my everquest to find different foods to put on it. Well just switch out the salt and fat for sugar vanilla and you have the bacon of the confectionery world. Seriously I would use two of these as a bun for my hamburger. I like rubbing them on my face, and am considering naming my firstborn Jules and my second-born DestrooperNot only could I inhale twelve boxes of these like Cookie Monster on crack after a month on hunger strike for Norn Aran—num num num num num num—But I could live on them permanently, as like the only thing in my diet—I’d even make a delicious shake out of these cookies and water with the help of a blender.Their trick is that their flavor is subtle, confected of simple ingredients, not overpowering, a gentle scent carried on the breeze as if from the warm wafting of cookie haze billowing slowly around grandma’s oven—we’re not talking Nerds half-dissolved din tamarind and habanero sauce here.Oh and the package: another exercise in class and restraint, the traditional old-time goodness of that deep blue-on-white laid out in neat rectilinear patterns, with gold lettering sprinkled about to let you know that you walk among the gods here, and no ordinary lettering, nothing short of solid gold brilliance, will be accepted—ah, but then, the Pièce de Résistance, the tiny tricolor of Belgium, yellow, red, and black—concentrated like a burst of flavor hiding in plain sight which knocks you off your sun-dappled cloudmobile lazing through the glorious light of the heavens and gently reunites you with the mundane world that you exist in between the times you eat these cookies. The only problem is that there aren’t enough cookie-wafers in the standard 12 box order to sate my mouth’s lust for these griddled, crystalline flavor explosion discs. Or it’s like the technicolor world of Molly Ringwald giving way to profound boredom with the drab dullness of IRL once the music’s gone. Or how nothing compares to your first love, or your first experience of the infinite and better living through chemistry—here, a time-tested recipe of perfect simplicity—the ambrosia and nectar of the gods wrapped into one thin cookie calling your name in a whisper, “eat me, eat me, boys, make your lives extraordinary!”If I was shipwrecked on a deserted tropical island and could only bring one book with me, it would be these cookies. They are just so gosh darn good that when I start eating them I cannot stop, and along the way the forms and content of reality start to dissolve before my eyes, the lineaments of boundaries between myself and the outside world dissolve, and I become One With The Cookie.
5.0 out of 5 stars Great snack cookies!
Great flavor! So light and crispy. Love this product!
5.0 out of 5 stars Most delicious!
I picked up a box of these on a whim at Costco and absolutely fell in love with them at first bite! Just sweet enough, thin and crispy, the perfect little cookie for, okay, any time of day or night. Am I raving about these? Yes! I loved them so much I headed back to Costco as soon as I could to buy up multiple boxes — but they were all gone! I went to a second Costco — same story! Lucky for me, I had Bolo to fill my order, yes, a dozen boxes. Now I’m hoarding them. You will not be sorry trying these.
5.0 out of 5 stars My new found favorite.
These cookies are delicious. I first tasted them when a box came in a Mother's Day gift basket. When the last crumb had vanished, I searched for more on Bolo and, sure enough, my favorite shopping spot came through. This crunchy, buttery waffle cookie is a terrific addition to a bowl of Blue Bell (yes, I'm a loyal Texan) ice cream or a good cup of tea or coffee. We even eat them with a cup of yogurt or kefir as a light evening meal. You'll find your own favorite situations for this tasty treat. The only thing I would change is the packaging. Each thin box holds only 8 cookies, although each cookie is about 1 1/2 x 3 inches, so one cookie is plenty to eat in most cases. Also on the positive side, the small packaging ensures that the crispiness lasts after the box is opened. I should add, the cookies are in two plastic nests of four cookies inside a foil package inside the cardboard box, so a good clamp keeps the opened cookies crisp and whole. Bon apetit!
5.0 out of 5 stars Had them for the first time in Belgium
The best cookie from a package I ever ate. Crispy buttery packed so they don’t come in a big bag of broken chips. Once you have these, you’ll never go back.
5.0 out of 5 stars Childhood Memories
I was served this cookie on a Brussels Air flight from Brussels to Toulouse. It was amazingly similar to a cookie that my Granny used to make -- so when I got home, I found them on Bolo and ordered a case.I love them and they are very nostalgic for me. My daughter does not like them, but she doesn't have the memory of Swiss Bretzeli that I do! My brother inherited the Bretzeli iron, but making the cookies takes a lot of time -- I'm taking him some of these cookies to get his take on the comparison!
4.0 out of 5 stars Delicious but over priced
The cookies were delicious but each cookie averages out to be almost $.50. That's too expensive. Especially when I was looking to add them to my menu at my icecream shop.
