I used this on a Dodge 360 / 5.9L motor to pre-oil it the motor before starting it. The motor had been sitting in a 1947 Dodge project truck for 8 years without being run. I changed the oil and filter, pulled the distributor, and cam gear, and slid the rod in. I hooked it up to a cordless drill and ran it. I got 60 PSI of oil pressure and kept it at that for 2 minutes. The truck stated and ran without any Issues

This tool worked well for priming a 318 LA engine. Simply spin the pump for a couple of minutes to prime the engine. Others have complained about breaking (exploding) their oil pump where the drive fits into the pump. But there's a simple solution for that - Use the oil pump drive to compare the length necessary for pushing the primer tool into place, then place a piece of masking tape where the priming tool should bottom out when the priming tool is fully installed over the spot where the brass bushing is located. Be sure to keep the tool from striking the side of the bushing while spinning the oil pump. Simple to use, and it works well.

This is truly the cream of the crop when it comes to oil pump priming rods for big block Mopars. If you have any other brand priming rod, put it down immediately and order this one. It features a sufficient length to prime the oil pump as well as just the right number of flats to engage the oil pump. It’s sleek design is just icing on the cake. I have owned hundreds of thousands of oil pump priming rods and hands down this is my favorite.
