Well made and has and excellent plating finish. I installed this on my 47 Ford as an assist pump because the many years old Airtex pump failed and there were no parts available to fix it. This pump is SO quiet, you can barely tell that it's running. I mounted it inverted from the instructions due to the location I needed. It works fine. As others have noted, this is not a flow-through design. The installation instructions clearly state this and show a nice diagram for a flow-through check valve to mitigate this. A couple of tees and a check valve and you're good.

Even though the Bolo description says this is a flow through pump, when running at higher speeds with this pump off, the mechanical pump on the engine was being starved due to the resistance in the line from the tank caused by the electric pump. I wrote Carter and their technical group immediately got back to me and said this pump is not intended for flow through. They sent me a diagram showing a simple bypass to be added for my application. It’s two tees and a check valve to be added in a line bypassing the pump. Otherwise I am quite satisfied with the quality and ease of installing the Carter pump.

We used this in a `48 Dodge 1 Ton pickup that's still on 6V. It's working quite nicely and solved some issues we were having with the cheap "inline" micro pumps. Flows plenty and runs quite happily but I would recommend an electrical relay and some additional vibration insulation where possible.

Carter P4259 Electric Fuel Pump repalcemant
Bought to replace older Carter P4259 electric fuel pump. Only able to test from repair garage to winter storage.Had re-plumbed the fuel delivery system several years ago using a Carter P4259 (made in the U.S.A) I hope this made in China P4259 lasts as long or longer. Time will tell.
