This product really worked well for me. It removed the tar, pitch and rosin from my expensive table saw blades very well. I let each one soak about 15 to twenty minutes and then used a stiff wire brush to scrub the built up resin off the blade teeth. Sprayed more cleaner on the blade teeth as I did this. Then wiped them dry with a clean rag. I used an old pizza pan to soak the blade in and help contain the mess. Worked great!

Works great! Just don’t leave tool in solution longer than a few days, if soaking. The solution will evaporate leaving crystalized particulates that adhere to the tool surface that require elbow grease to remove.

I know this product works well - my first bottle ran out so I bought a second. This second bottle didn't have a sprayer so that's disappointing... had to buy a spray bottle to use it. The product picture shows a sprayer. Seems that they should provide both options... a spray bottle and a refill bottle.

I often get behind in cleaning table saw blades and router bits. But I recently did my annual shop maintenance and cleaning, and I used this product to clean pitch and resin off of a few blades, including the original SawStop blade that is now 10+ years old. I was about to retire this blade because I noticed it struggling a bit while ripping hard maple. Out of curiosity, I thought that I'd give it one last cleaning and see how it cut. Surprisingly, the blade ripped the 8/4 maple with no noticeable slowing. It definitely takes time to hit every tooth on a blade individually on all sides to remove the pitch, but the results are noticeable! Great product!

Despite many reviewers stating the CMT Formula 2050 Blade and Bit Cleaner does not work, it actually does as described by the manufacturer and all the positive reviews.How well / fast it works depends on how grimey your blade is before you clean it. I have used this product on two different blades so far. One blade cleaned up pretty quickly with the teeth cleaned and the body fairly shiny. The second blade took a lot more attention and soaking overnight. It still cleaned up fairly well, teeth cleaned and the body not as shiny as the previous blade.Don’t expect this product to turn your old blade into a shiny new blade. This is not what this is for. It is a cleaner, not a polisher.To be fair, I have not tried using dish detergent as some have claimed in their frustration works just as well as the CMT Formula 2050 Blade and Bit Cleaner. I think I will try a certain dish cleaner on my next blade as an experiment just to compare the results

WoodworkingPRICE: I have used SG before with the exact same results. The visocity, feel on my fingers, and even effect on the blade paint is all the same. I even think it smells the same. Both SG and this product will remove the paint if allowed to soak long enough. Even a little bit of scrubbing will remove paint. Not a big deal because blades like Forrest brand have no paint (though may have a clear coating).SG is cheaper and in the future I will go back to it.RESULT: The result I achieved was the same with SG. It will immediately remove the build up if it is not significant or had a long time to set up. I some cases where the blade dulls due to pitch build up, it gets hot. It then bakes the pitch onto the blade and it will require scrubbing. If you clean your blades more often this should not require as much scrubbing.One observation. The pitch came off the sides of the blade really easy with just a wipe of it had not already run off by itself, with one exception. A blade that I had resharpened had been wirewheeld to remove pitch and scuffed the finish pretty good. On this blade the pitch was a bit harder to remove. I believe the scuff gives a better bite to the pitch. This is also why I think pitch on the teeth will take a scrubbing when the sides of the blade do not. Especially resharpened blades. Because the grinding process will leave tool marks on the teeth that the pitch can adhere to.My plan is to have the tray and spray ready when blade changes occur and address it then.Overall it does the job but my experience. Is that this is repackaged simple green and for the price you can get a gallon concentrate dilute it and it will last forever.Regardless of what product you use. The more often or frequency that you clean your blades the less scrubbing you will have to do and more effective the cleaner will be on getting the job done on its own.
