Camco's 1500W 240V screw-in type high watt density water heater elements can be used in most replacement situations of the same wattage and voltage. High Watt Density are the most common and the same type of elements provided with most water new heaters. They are easy to install and come with detailed instructions on how to replace your old element. Screw-in type elements fit most models of American, AO Smith, Bradford White, Craftmaster (prior to 1991), GE, GS Wood (certain models), Kenmore, Lochinvar, Maytag, Mor-Flo, Reliance, Rheem, Richmond, Rudd, Sears, State, Whirlpool and most water heaters manufactured after 1994.

Wanted 40 gallon water heater but only have a 20 amp circuit on off grid solar inverter. Changed out the two 4500 watt elements with two 1500 watt elements. Has worked great for two months so far.

What more could you ask for? If you are planning on using this in a water heater you should already know what you need. Make sure your heater uses 240v and not 120v.I used this for a project making a sous vide water bath. I won't bore you with the irrelevant details, but I used a screw-in flange for water heaters to attach this heating element to the project bath. The gasket was effective in preventing leaks, but I went ahead and used caulk for aditional waterproofing.This element is powerful enough to heat 5 gallons to boiling in about 30 mins, so think of it as a small project heater, or plan on a well insulated tank with enough time to let the heater work.Feel free to leave any questions you have in the comments section. Bought two. One failed (measures infinite voltage on ohmmeter) after 3.5 months of use. The other is working, for now. Measures about 1450 W power draw, when working.When working, this is a useful and hard-to-find smaller element to use with solar power generation. With the lower power draw, the heater runs longer and can draws only from solar generation (not grid), effectively using the water tank as energy storage.
