5.0 out of 5 stars It works very well and no issues
(function() { P.when('cr-A', 'ready').execute(function(A) { if(typeof A.toggleExpanderAriaLabel === 'function') { A.toggleExpanderAriaLabel('review_text_read_more', 'Read more of this review', 'Read less of this review'); } }); })(); .review-text-read-more-expander:focus-visible { outline: 2px solid #2162a1; outline-offset: 2px; border-radius: 5px; } Bought this for a remodel. I've never owned one before. I had it installed by a plumber. When I first went to use it, it sputtered a bit. Eventually, all the air came out and it worked well. I did not change the factory setting for temp. It's hot enough for tea, it gets water boiling on the stove very quickly, it will dissolve broth paste in a minute or less, the list goes on. I've read some reviews that it tends to sputter a lot. I think it may be due to raising the temp to high on the unit. I could be wrong but it makes sense. I've had this in use for several months. I've filled a large pot and emptied the reservoir and it was back at temp and full within 15 min. The water does not come out like a faucet (fast) just a steady stream, for safety reasons I assume. The actual faucet/spigot part is pretty. The lever only goes back about 1 inch or so. It sits pretty close to my back splash but it can swivel a bit so I can extend the lever to it's fullest point. I would recommend this product.
5.0 out of 5 stars Well designed, works better than expected
These instant hot water heaters cannot be beaten for saving water (at the expense of electricity... fine, we have solar). Our first one 30 years or so ago was an insinkerator. Ergonomically, it was terrible with the spring loaded twister that I still see occasionally in older hotels and convention centers. And it failed after 3 years or so. I switched to one of the competitors - the square white one, and they lasted roughly 5 years each eventually rusting out or some such thing. The most recent one lasted but two years and because of the tedium of replacing the darn thing behind the disposal and upside down to tighten the connections, we went six months using the electric kettle, suffering the delay while desperate for a cup of tea. I was impressed by the three year warranty and comments others made about this unit so switched back to inSinkErator. Yes it was a pain to install since I couldn't just plug and play as I had with the serial white boxes and had to grind out the eccentric hole in the marble to enable the fit of the perfectly round male end of the new faucet. Nonetheless, the effort has been more than repaid. The mount for the faucet feels and behaves in a far sturdier fashion then with the white box, the unit keeps the water at our preferred 180 without boiling AND the dial more room to increase the heat. I want to emphasize this last issue: the white box thermostat was maxed at 180 and rarely delivered more than 16-18 ozs of HOT water. We are unabashed converts to InSinkErator.
5.0 out of 5 stars Totally worth it!
I know that a lot of people have these units fail on them, in fact I've had 2 fail now. However, the first one lasted 10 years, and the second one made it to 7. Perhaps the water quality has something to do with it. I have a filter in front of mine.Even if this only lasted 5 years, the convenience of it makes it worth while. In addition to beverages, I use it for cleaning greasy pans and containers. It melts bacon grease out of a frying pan really well.If the manufacturer upgraded the plastic they use internally on these units, I bet they would last a lot longer. I took mine apart and found the overflow reservoir had melted, causing a minor leak.I won't have a kitchen without one!
5.0 out of 5 stars Works As Intended
Solid construction and works as advertised. I had a plumber install it, so I'll leave installation issues for others. Great for making tea on the fly, jello, or whenever I need (near) boiling water. It serves hot water immediately, quiet and solid. I'd recommend to anyone.
4.0 out of 5 stars Heads'up on installation but buy it
This is for the hot water only model (no filter or cold water). I had a plumber install it July 22, 2015, to replace a past unit of another brand that was beginning to fail. We've had these instant hot water faucets for many years and I find that they typically last only about 3 years (but that's a decent value to me for daily use for 3 years at prices under $300, or, about 25 cents a day). This review is based on purchase, installation and initial impression - it just went in so time will tell ... but I give 5 stars to the 3-year on-site warranty and the working and quality appearance. The warranty was primarily what sold me - they are really standing behind their quality.Installation was a problem - even for a plumber who we know well and is a good plumber. If you can anticipate what we did not, it might not be so bad for you, however, I give installation only 2 stars because Emerson InSinkErator does not include a very fundamental adapter shutoff valve that most anyone is going to need to connect the unit's 1/4" copper tube to their 3/8" water line. Among the packing materials they have a little warning book that actually points this out (Number 4 of 4 under Before Installing ...). When you phone them they act like you should be just fine going to the hardware store (or paying your plumber to do so) to get this necessary part - VERY weird of Emerson ... like selling you a bicycle and then saying oh, by the way, you might need to go buy wheels. On their 800-line they say people have no issue with this. Also, there are a total of 4 tubes/hoses and all have been kept rather short thereby forcing you to mount the tank to the nearest surface even if there is a better surface just a few inches farther away. I would have gladly paid a few bucks more for more reach but I imagine someone at Emerson kept these short or shortened them under the banner of cost reduction and had a swell time congratulating each other on how much they saved Emerson while meantime irritating unsuspecting customers. The unit we were replacing had much further reach so we could anchor to nearby wood rather than nearest drywall.I went on about installation to save you the angst. If you anticipate these things they are not showstoppers. At this time I still like this product and its 3-year "Come to you Parts and Labor" warranty. Barring any surprise yet to come, I recommend this if you want instant hot water.

Great selection of designs and price ranges. It is way cuter installed than in the pics.
Wonder how we lived without it
Great for Tea and coffee . Hot water from out our central on demand water heater is slow to kitchen so this is handy for filling a small basin to wash a few things
