Works great - definitely recommend proxxon users getting this accessory.
5.0 out of 5 stars Nice tool!
Perfect, it is very handy for staying clear of danger when drilling etc.I use mine to drill through gemstones.
5.0 out of 5 stars Performs perfectly
I'm not sure why Kritter had problems. Perhaps he/she had a defective one. The flex shaft I purchased works perfectly and I've given it a great deal of testing.
5.0 out of 5 stars Nice Flexshaft attachment
Nice Flexshaft for my Proxxon 28620 grinder. Works as advertised and for a decent price.
1.0 out of 5 stars QA issue - bearing running hot
Update: I played with the shaft now the entire evening. The bearing connecting to the IB/E becomes very hot at high speeds and not even the stand is enough heat sink. The entire metal head from the IB/E heats up beyond that it is comfortable to touch. This particular bearing appears to be the source of most vibration. It appears to have significant play. (The bearings in the hand piece appear to be fine.) I tried mounting the IB/E vertically and horizontally with the same effect. I tested it by running it at 20k RPM with no load 10 min at a time. There must be some bad batch. I will contact Proxxon customer services.Original review: I ordered the Proxxon 110/P flexshaft despite the bad reviews. I own multiple Proxxon tools and myself experienced QA issues a few times. Customer service is great and you get an immediate replacement. So I assumed, that people just may have gotten a lemon.I just received the flexhaft today and cannot see anything wrong with it. The hand piece has very small vibration to it. It is not as smooth as the IB/E, but with higher speeds, the vibration appears to go away. If the shaft is straightened in a certain way, the spring insides appears to rattle. It does not happen when the flexshaft is bended like under normal use. Both resonance issues I assume. The bearings appears to be fine and have very little play. There are two in the hand piece and one in the piece connecting to the motor. I would say play is in the area of less than 1/10 mm. A test hole with a 2 mm drill in poplar appears perfectly round. I also tried cutting with a thin cut-off wheel, cutting through 5 mm brass which I managed without shattering the wheel. This is good evidence that the collet runs round. Also a milling cutter worked fine, even with side pressure. I inspected the bearings for production dirt and found them clean.I ran the accessory for about half an hour and could not notice any heating. I used my MB 140/S stand to hold the IB/E. There was no noticeable vibration to the IB/E other than what you feel without the shaft. The MB 140/S makes some resonating noise on my desk and I put a cloth which I just had under it. I do not want to scare you, just accurately describe what I found, since some reviewers made a point of a rattling issue. Compared to the noise a Dremel makes, the whole setup is still whisper quiet and you would have no issues having your infant sleep in the next room. It is really minor. The only odd thing I noticed is that the collet nut had no grooves to tighten with the IB/E wrench. In fact, the other end is so close to the IB/E collet that you also could not use that wrench for this side either. Hand tightening appears to work fine. I assume that you can anyway not put the same amount of force on the flexshaft as you could directly on the rotary tool. So this might be by design. Connecting and disconnecting the shaft is as as easy as changing a bit. The shaft takes the 1/8" (3.2 mm) collet. A set of collets comes with it. You need a nail or something similar to keep the rod from turning while you tighten the nut.On a positive note, the hand piece is really thin which I like a lot. It feels like holding a quality pen or stylus. It is 1.5 cm thick (about 9/16"). Bottom line is, that the flex shaft gives the IB/E a whole new quality in precision guidance. I can highly recommend the 38700 Foot Switch FS in combination with the shaft which gives you perfect control over your work.

Great product, it works well
5.0 out of 5 stars Love it! I've had two now
Love it! I've had two now. The first one I had was doing just fine until I dropped it on the floor. Fortunately, I had another spare hanging out. Hooked it up and tada, even quieter than the first one.No idea why folks are having trouble with these. I use mine daily in a plastics manf. capacity and have appx. 2000 hours on the first one. . .and only a couple hours on my second one so far.Like any tool, these will work loose at either end. I lubricated the Chuck only once in two years, after having noticed that it wasn't tightening up as well. Easy fix.I have one now, and probably ought to put another one on the shelf in case I get goofy and drop it.
1.0 out of 5 stars Poor choice of bearings & shoddy quality control
What a ripoff! This thing is falling apart, and I've barely used it.Let's see, where do I begin... oh yes, the bearings, THE BEARINGS.This is actually the first time I buy a power tool with bearings that roll like squares. And what's the deal with that crappy little bearing at the motor-end of the flexshaft? I mean, what were you people thinking? It not only overheats while spinning under no load, but it now rattles too(no, it's not the shaft or the metal wire making the sound, it's the bearing, and it's wearing out fast). And this is only after the first 30 minutes of use.The handle squeaks and rattles too, as if the bearings were contaminated... and, of course, they were. Further inspection revealed small, metal shavings inside the handle (where the bearings were mounted). So, I would imagine that whoever put this thing together can't be bothered to clean-off the metal shavings left over from the milling process, so that debris doesn't find its way inside the bearings at a later time, causing the company an embarrassment(but maybe they don't really care) and losing potential future customers.
Great product hands down!
After much reading on the two flex shafts that are available I decided to get this one and was greatly surprised at how flexible and light it is in the hand. Very worthwhile getting this product, allows me to work for long stretches of time without fatigue.
