I've used numerous Safety First products over the past 5 years, and they all have been well made and well designed, so when we needed new syringes to administer medicine to my toddlers, I immediately assumed that the safety first syringe would be a good choice. Little did I know that everything that you take for granted with a syringe was done so incompetently that I'll ultimately just be throwing this away.My kids have taken a lot of medicine over the years, mostly through syringes. I've used everything from tiny 1ml syringes to dispense breast milk to a preemie to chunky 15ml syringe we got from CVS that came for free with some medication. Mostly we've used the included syringes that came with the infant Tylenol. Throughout all these uses, the general functionality was essentially the same with no issues. Unfortunately, these syringes all ran out, so being the trusting soul I am, I decided that it was time to buy a syringe that doesn't come for free with the medicine, and seeing the design of this, I assumed that Safety First had found some nice improvements from the cheapo generic syringe. Oh, how wrong I was.Not 100% wrong though. There is one legitimate improvement. The wide, textured grip at the top feels quite nice on your fingers. If you are giving an entire orphanage of struggling children medicine, all in a row, with the same syringe, this is the syringe for you. If you have ever been giving your sick child medicine and thought, "the worst part of this experience is how the little plastic bits poke into my fingers while I use this syringe," then this is the syringe for you. However, if you care about any other facet of syringe functionality, look elsewhere.The long, tapered nose of the syringe looked a little odd when I first saw it, but in my naivety, I assumed it would still work like every other syringe I've ever used. It does not. The bulky size of the tip does not fit in any infant-dispense bottles, which means you have to use a medicine cup or something else in addition to the syringe. Since you aren't using one of those bottles, you can't use the measure-twice-while-upsidedown trick to get all the air out. So you always end up with nearly an entire ml of air in the syringe. Now, if you measure based on the liquid and ignoring the air bubble, you can still measure the right amount (although this seems like an unnecessary complication for a product targeted at sleep-deprived parents). If you dispense the medication completely vertically, this air bubble actually comes in handy, and pushes all the medicine out. But if your children are capable of movement, or you're forced dispensing at some sort of horizontal angle (as one would expect) the air bubble no longer pushes all the medicine out and you end up dispensing up to nearly a ml less than you measured. With kids that sometimes spit out half the medicine anyway, you'll never have a clue how much they got ever again! As we all know, if there's anything you want to be an inexact science, it medicine quantities for babies.Have you ever stood a syringe up on the stopper so the tip doesn't touch the counter while you put the medicine bottle down? Not with this syringe. They used extra plastic to round the top of the stopper so you can't stand it up.Have you ever had to measure medicine in low light (like when your kid inevitable comes down with the plague in the middle of the night)? This syringe has markings on both sides, and one of them is raised (so they can't wear off). Unfortunately the clear-on-clear and white-on-clear design makes it decently challenging to read, especially in low light or when you're trying to decipher the right amount around the random 1ml of air in the thing.The action of the pump - how smooth it slides and having a slight catch at the end so you don't over-open it - leaves a bit to be desired, although in comparison to my other complaints, those were incredibly minor. They were things where you might expect a premium experience with the specially designed syringe, but they didn't actually hurt the functionality.As you can see, I have a lot of feelings about this syringe. I spent around $3-4 on this thing. Normally I would just let something so inconsequential go... But when faced with the design that was so incompetent, by a company I previously trusted, I felt compelled to share my experience to hopefully save others from making the same mistake.If you're buying this to use to feed an animal something that doesn't require exact measurements... I'm sure this is great. If you're wanting to give your infant or toddler medicine... Buy something else.P.s. Chris's review reads like a fake review placed by the company. It might even be AI. "Packaging may vary" who would say that in their review of a product they bought? That makes me like this company even less.

I love the feel and comfort of this syringe, but the suction just isn't very good. It is lose and inaccurate, and hard to get just the right amount. Just a little more tension is needed on the internal stopper. For the price, this thing should be a Cadillac!

I got this to administer Pepto-Bismol to my chihuahua who has stomach issues about once a month. And this dropper is so much easier than trying to get her to lap it up in any other way.

I bought this to squeeze silicone into an ipod shuffle in an attempt to waterproof it. It did the job pretty well. This review won't help most people, but what I can say is that the syringe filled easily, and worked perfectly. None of the silicone, despite it being "greasy" was left behind when the plunger passed down the syringe. The measurements were easy to read and appeared to be accurate, but I wasnt too interested in that.

The best I've been able to find but that isn't saying much. The numbers rub off easily; but, there technically are engraved numbers on the plastic on the other side, they are just hard to see since they're clear. The syringe has an air bubble because of the narrowly tapered tip. This means the total amount of medicine is rarely dispensed. You must remove the plunger and have the child suck the tube to really get all of the medicine out of the syringe.The one thing this does well is draw up the medicine quickly. This is why I still use it because I've yet to find another that does this well.

Inaccurate instrument, it sucks air while introducing the medical liquid to the syringe. Very loose, flaw in the design
