Having just switched to watercolor from a lifetime of avoiding it, I am delighted to say it's by far my preferred medium now. The saturation is very good, as is the transparency. The selection of colors here seems reasonable so far. I've been able to mix everything I needed for mostly landscapes.

These are my favorite paints so far... granted I haven't tried a lot of them, but I've tried a fair amount of the cheaper/student brands. It's worth paying a bit more I think.

Winsor and Newton professional watercolor paints are expensive and come in small 5 ml tubes. I was happy to order them for a set within my budget. However, when I went to swatch the colors, I found 8 of eighteen colors were not full tubes. I can deal with the watercolor being below the neck of the tube as long as I can see the paint, but 8 of the tubes had so little paint, I couldn't see the color without pushing my brush down into the paint, and 4 of those had approximately 1/2 inch less paint in the tube (based on how far I had to push my brush into the tube to get any paint). On a 5 ml tube of paint, and as expensive as these watercolors are, this is unacceptable to me. Value for money is an issue for me. The description should state the tubes may not be full. These did not meet my expectations.

Like so many people I was determined to pick up a new skill during the pandemic and watercolor has always appealed to me. I had tried some inexpensive pan colors and wasn't really happy with the results in terms of vibrancy. These colors allow for smooth transitions and beautiful application. I know they're not cheap but I found that combined with a good quality paper they produce phenomenal results.

Quality of the product, speed of shipping, condition upon arrival, and price point are all great. The verity for the price is great. The quality of the professional paint is wonderful.I was expecting more traditionally named colors (EX: Viridian Green, Prussian Blue, Ultramarine) but it turns out these are more of the Winsor blues, reds, greens. Which are close, but it would be nice if Winsor stuck to the original name of colors so I wouldn't have to guess.Titanium White, Winsor Yellow, New Gamboge, Winsor Orange (Red shade), Scarlet Lake, Winsor Red, Raw Ocher, Burnt Sienna, Raw Umber, Olive Green, Permanent Sap Green, Winsor Green (Yellow Shade), Winsor Violet, Cerulean BlueWinsor Blue (Green Shade), Winsor Blue (Red Shade), Paine's Grey (blue tone grey), Lamp Black. (fyi: A bit out of order to the photo of colors)This is my first set of tube watercolor and I am finding them really great. A little bit goes a long way with the tube watercolors so 5ml tube isn't as small as it looks.

You’ll love this set
This set is perfect as first step for professional watercoloring!!! The selection of greens, blues and reds is enough. I just miss to have sepia on it but I’m happy to get Payne’s grey. Colors are quite bright without chalky texture. I got this set because I didn’t want to spend too much but now I’ll try to get some colors separately. Highly recommend.
