This product was pretty pricey for what it is, but it was worth it to me to fix this shower valve that there was otherwise nothing wrong with, outside of some broken plastic that caused it to not operate correctly. I give it a 5 star review for the product being exactly what I needed to fix my issue, but I would have given 3 stars for the price of mostly plastic.

This is a great refresh for a very old but working fixture. A part like this is almost impossible to find in local retail.

"Assembly" here means only the end-piece, the chrome-coated plastic cap (as shown). The actual shower "assembly" includes an inner metal cartridge, metal face plate, metal handle and this incredibly cheap plastic cap. The first actual assembly lasted many years. Yea, Grohe! Now this cheap plastic cap ($100!!!!!). breaks about every 2 years. I have purchased 4. If you buy it, try not to touch it. Next time the cartridge inside the unit fails I will look for a whole different assembly.(Both Grohe sink-faucet-sets from 1985 still function perfectly, and the plumber told me that they are still superior to anything currently on the market. Why did Grohe lower their standards for this shower-assembly cap?)
