CLEAR gel and love that for mixing in. Now always mix a couple drops into premixed colors I’ve made and put in my 1oz sealed containers to insure continuous use. More control than other mediums of a like kind to keep paint nice and useable. Also wonderful for your palette. When working in sun and other studio lights my acrylics last much longer. Blending and mixing acrylics down to small areas now stay usable much longer. Found benefits in both wet and regular palettes. As I prefer the standard now thanks to Golden Retarder no longer loose or end up wasting my paint.

I really like this product! Just a drop or two gives my acrylic paints a smooth feel and makes mixtures on the palette last longer when I come back to them. On the canvas, it extends the time I can work with blending my paints allowing me to achieve the feel of oil painting. It also helps rejuvenate paint that has gotten a bit dried out in the tube and makes them smooth and workable again.Just make sure you don’t use too much!

If you want to blend colors together like reflections in water this does the trick. Adding it to your colors slows the drying time a lot, allowing you to make great reflections or anywhere else you want to blend your colors.

I like the gel-like thickness of this. It doesn’t thin paint down like other retarders I’ve used so I can get the slow drying effect I want but more easily control the thickness of paint as I normally would when not using a retarder

It's really good for it's use, keeps acrylic paint wet longer. The only problem I have is that I use it for college and I put it in a box so it doesn't stand straight, so it leaks all over, not a lot but could've been used many times for the amount it let's out, it also closed all the way. Should have a cap over it or something

Like all products made by Golden, this retarder is great stuff. If I mix a little retarder with the paint and periodically refresh with a quick spritz of water, I can use the same pile/puddle of paint for about 2-3 hours, sometimes a bit longer.The retarder also makes it easier to blend colors on canvas since you have more time to work with the paint. Another added bonus is the retarder helps to prevent those nasty skins that tend to build up on the palette around the edges of the puddles of paint. Less waste and clean-up is a breeze. Highly recommended.
