Simple and basic milling machine, powered from 120V outlet available in everyone's garage. Good for everything not too big - prefarably soft metals. You can get to 0.005" tolerances without a problem. You have to buy milling collets and mills separatelly. Its good idea to get some clamping tools as well. Works really well.

This is a good tool but Jet missed a lot of small details. The 15 (which measures 7.5" to the post) sits nicely on a work bench. It is big - and weighs in at 450lbs. Good overall specs and material quality. Better than some of the knock-offs (harbor freight has one that looks identical. With only a modicum of common sense they could improve this - but it's almost like they did a poor design to push users to a more expensive model. When you use the crank on the left side - it rubs the support arm for the light. The plastic shield is mounted in such a way that you can't make height adjustments - and only works for a portion of the reach - so that came off within an hour. Changing motor speeds - come on - this could be improved so easily but it's complicated by the synch bolts for the head being in the way of the motor loosening nut. And the synch bolts that ship are some weird pitch metric - while the parts manual specs 5/8". They substituted the slightly smaller metric bolts because the casting will not take the head of a 5/8 bolt. I added tall 5/8" nuts so that the wrench doesn't bang into the motor tightening bolt. And you'll need a small prybar to tighten the motor - so changing speeds is not easy. I'm reworking the motor tensioning so that i can do it with a single lever.It runs well, the quality of the weighs and table is good. It just bugs me that they wouldn't put an ounce of thought into this - and $15 in parts to make the whole thing more easy to use. The one drawback of this style is that when you change the table height you need to loosen those 5/8" synch bolts and the head will rotate. So you need to recenter when you change the table height.I've bought a lot of other Jet tools and liked them. bought this because of the Jet name. It's a great tool that does what i want (smaller steel as well as aluminum) but the product designers didn't put their hearts into it.

This review is only about how JET is incompetent in packaging up their Mill / Drill Unit. I still can not comment on the operation, as I still can not run the unit.When I first received this unit (frieght via CEVA), the box looked already pre-opened. After further inspection, I found that all of the parts required to assemble the unit were missing. I contacted Bolo, and Bolo immediately processed and shipped out a replacement unit. I just got the replacement unit. This time they have included a part box with instructions. However, the box only includes one handle knob, while there should be a total of four. What a joke and waste of time. Save your money, look elsewhere other than JET. Their Quality and Shipping is pathetic.

The machine is great but i ordered a machine without the stand and the original order shows that.. someone decided i needed the stand anyway and added it to my card without my approval. Not a happy camper.

Used this a bit for milling some slots in aluminum channel. Works fine if set up correctly. This is not a 2,000 lb Bridgeport mill. But at 400 lbs it is a really beefy 1 HP drill press and fine for most metals up to .25".
