This cartridge replaced the original in a 40 year old Friedrich Grohe kitchen faucet. Works like new.Only issue was getting the outer sleeve of the cartridge out as the rubber seals were swollen and stuck tight. Used a Delta extraction tool.

The product was challenging for our experienced plumber to install. Once it was installed, within 1 week, the product failed. Attempts at contacting Grohe and asking for advice were frustrating, at best. They did not reply to emails. I am returning the product for a replacement in hopes that the replacement project will be better.

For those who want to revive an old leaking Grohe faucet there is little choice but to use one of these. The one I installed a little more than a year ago had a brass spindle break, maybe a fluke but I'm thinking the quality of these aren't what they used to be. I just replaced it again.There's a trick I learned from Grohe support (after going up the ladder) that needs to be done with most installations to avoid major problems. After two unsuccessful installations in the past they told me to put the cartridge in the home freezer for at least 4 hours before installation and install immediately after taking it out of the freezer. The problem is that the main seals aren't well secured within the outer sleeve of this unit. That's one reason they are shipped with a removable sleeve over those seals. Trying to install it at room temperature will likely dislodge and damage those seals, that is what happened to me with two attempts last time. Freezing the cartridge (with that retention sleeve in-place) tends to hold those seals in-place when the cartridge is slide into position so they remain in-place until the cartridge is fully seated/installed.This recent installation went well after freezing the cartridge and it works very well after installation. Another thing that isn't mentioned in the pathetic installation instructions is that the outer sleeve can only be fully inserted in one orientation but the orientation of the center shaft isn't fixed and can be one of two positions (180 degrees from each other). With my recent installation that shaft was 180 degrees out of alignment and that reversed handle position for hot & cold. The cartridge does not need to be removed to correct that, the handle can be removed and then the center shaft can simply be rotated 180 degrees and the handle reinstalled to solve that problem.With any luck this will help many people avoid the anguish and grief I endured earlier.

This was semi- easy to install (according to hubby) and it made a huge difference Before, the water lever was hard to pull out to turn on, and water leaked when the shower was not being used. The shower faucet was about 25 years old, and this was an easy fix. Now we are good for another 25 years, I hope. Grohe makes great ,long-lasting products. The company sent this replacement part quickly, and I have already ordered another one from themfor the other bathroom.

Did the job. A little bit expensive maybe.
This fixed my old Grohe shower control. A little on the expensive side but better than re-plumbing a new shower.
