Tongue scraping? In a hectic life of running to get the basics accomplished, one more chore seemed like some new age excess. Until more out of curiosity, I sent for this tool to give it a try. I recall during childhood, when doctor visits and checkups lasted more than 3 minutes, the first thing a doctor did after perhaps weighing you and someone taking your blood pressure, was to have you open your mouth and say AHHH. Besides looking for inflammation in your throats, they observed the condition of your tongue, which gave evidence to your overall health since it's the gateway to your GI track. Being the first step in the journey of your digestion, all food begins being processed here and your mouth has more bacteria than the entire human population on the planet. Most of them are necessary and beneficial. But imbalances can occur or due to superficial oral care, food particles can promote excess populations of some types of bacteria. Bacteria eat and excrete as well and their waste products can result in unpleasant odors and even build up of toxins. A tongue scraper removes these accumulations very effectively, much more so than your redirected toothbrush will. At times I noticed a white coating on my tongue as opposed to a healthy pink. Regular tongue scraping has completely eliminated that condition. Besides having more peace of mind that my breath is more clean in social situations, my mouth has never felt cleaner. I love this scraper in particular because of the substantial handles which enable you to hold it securely during use without slipping. Perhaps it's like using those dental floss tools as opposed to unraveling two feet of floss, winding it around your fingers cutting off blood supply and then inserting fingers, with their own unique bacteria into your mouth. (Yes, I hate producing more plastic waste as well with those disposable tools! A non issue with this reusable stainless steel scraper) One other benefit that I'm not sure I've consciously observes, is that without your taste buds being coated, you might even experience more intense flavors in foods. Its not shown in the photo, but the scraper includes a small storage pouch for storage and to take along. One other curious but true benefit, is that using it makes you more conscious of your health maintenance and hygiene and strangely gives you a feeling of self mastery, strange as that may sound. Overall, I can't recommend this scraper highly enough.

I always tried scraping my tongue with a spoon, and it did not get off all of the residue. It was effective, but not highly. A toothbrush makes you gag and barely does anything. I saw an Orabrush commercial and realized I really wanted a tongue scraper. The problem I saw was that the Orabrush was pricey, and it was made out of a plastic/rubber material. They said you need to replace it ever 3 months like a toothbrush. I thought that was stupid, who wants to buy an expensive plastic tongue scraper every 3 months? A quick search on Bolo showed me this, and I am so glad it did. I was immediately pleased to see it was stainless steel, because that'll just last forever. Also, not only is it not pricey at all, but it looks like a pretty nice product. I bought it that very minute.When I received this in the mail I was already ripping open the package to use it. I really hate that terrible taste you get in your mouth even when your teeth are clean, and that taste IS from the residue on your tongue. I brushed my teeth, cleaned out my mouth, and started using it. You can go pretty far back (although I have to be careful because I have some swollen taste buds on the back of my tongue that this tongue cleaner can painfully latch onto). I noticed some women in the 1 star ratings of this product saying it was just a saliva scraper. To use this product properly,try not to close your mouth while scraping. First, it'll just scrape off a little residue and a lot of saliva. If your mouth is left open, you'll get off the saliva in a couple swipes and then just be scraping off residue. It's very simple. I am able to get off ALL residue with this product and have never been so pleased with my oral cleanliness in my life. I wished more people would use these, bad breath is terrible and this is a major part of the solution. I use this each time after I brush. If you use it this frequently, you only have to scrape for about 15 seconds because there's barely any residue to take off because you're not leaving any to build up.Note: Do not go harder than you are comfortable. You can get off almost all residue with a gentle amount of pressure. I had gone a little too hard at one point and a couple taste buds got cut and bled lightly. Do not be scared though, this should only happen if you're scraping WAY too hard.

Love these. They actually work unlike the fully metal ones that barely help at all. Warning though, be gentle because I've scraped my tongue too hard and aggravated it

I've had several types of tongue cleaners and, after reading all of the wonderful reviews about this one, I wanted to try one out for myself. My opinion in a nutshell?... It works as intended. What do I mean? Well, it's a good product that does what it's supposed to. Compared to the other types and brands that I've tried in the past, I found this one to be a viable alternative though not nearly as amazing as others have claimed. I wonder if many of the other stellar reviews have come from people who have never used a tongue cleaner before.Specifically, I found this product to be effective, although I could critique that the design hardly seems to improve it's performance versus other types of cleaners I have used. The handles provide a good grip and the stainless steel band does it's part to clean. A good product but not good enough for me to rave that it's "great".CONS:• Price (a bit high for such a simple design)• Design (large and colorful)PROS:• Effective (works as intended when used properly)• Quality (well made)
