THIS STUFF WORKS! The Boos Block Mystery oil and the Boos Block Board Cream work as a team. Although you can use either/or. I highly suggest you use both to get the full effect of just how great these products are.If you have cutting boards that have never been treated or are old with lots of use on them, this stuff will make them better than new. It is a two step process if you want the maximum protection and conditioning. Takes a bit of time but well worth it. You invested some good money for those wood cutting boards so why not invest some time to make sure they last.To get started make sure boards are clean and dry. Pour Mystery oil on board and rub a coat of oil on the whole board (top, bottom, sides). Wait 5 minutes and wipe off the excess. Let board sit overnight or all day depending when you oiled it. After it sits overnight, take a look and see if there's any dry spots left or spots where it needs a touch up. If it looks good move on to the Board Cream. The oil can be drippy so take care for spills. I used a bath towel under and elevated the board on a wire rack w/ legs for air circulation. The cream is a mixture of food grade mineral oil and beeswax. Squeeze a line or two on the board and rub it on the whole board. I used my hands to smooth it and rub it into the board. It will form a creamy layer over the whole board. As with the oil you're going to let the board rest overnight or all day to allow for the cream to penetrate the board. Then wipe off any excess, buff with a clean dry towel, and get ready to see the results of your time and effort. Remember to keep wiping till all the excess cream is gone, then buff.Your board will look so nice you won't want to use it. For best results use in conjunction with the board cream.John Boos Butcher Block Board Cream, 5 oz, Cream

John Boos Block Board Cream , along with John Boos Mystery Oil, is all I've ever used on my John Boos Butcher block work table. It ‘s recommended by John Boos Butcher Block Manufacturers and works extremely well. It keeps my butcher block surface like new. Keep it well sealed against moisture and makes it easy to clean between applications. I recommend it for any butcher block. It's easy to use. Just follow recommended instructions.

I am SO happy I discovered this for my kitchen island!! The butcher block top had been varnished (before I owned it) and the varnish was wearing off. It looked so bad! We thought we were going to have to buy a new top for it, but it wasn't high on the list of priorities for our "new" home. So, I started researching things on pinterest and online and discovered that all I needed to do was to sand it down to the bare wood (OK, this is a really terrible and messy job!! Think dust EVERYWHERE!), and buy the Boos BB Oil and voila! We have a beautiful kitchen island now with a beautiful, food-grade, quality butcher block top.I love this stuff. Each time I do it, it takes less and less oil to soak in. My guess is, it was so dry when I first did it, but the oil just keeps soaking in each time I do it that it keeps getting better and better. The color is getting richer with each application, too.I also bought the creme as well, but I don't find that as necessary as the oil. I love this stuff and will keep using it on all my butcher blocks. It is well worth the money and it does what it says it does.

Honestly didn't know that this was the "correct" way of treating your wood chopping board until I looked this product up. I've never oiled my chopping boards before. This seemed to make the board "healthier" and not so flaky and dry. Previously it almost seemed ashy and that splinters would come off if you scratched it with your finger. This returns it to more or less a factory finish. Imagine a pair of wooden salad tongs - kind of like that. That being said, you do need to apply it about every 3 times you use the chopping board and wash it. It comes off since I (and I assume you do, too) use soap when you wash it. In that sense, it is not as durable as, say, a polyurethane coating that you would finish a table with - but I'm glad.Just like seasoning a cast iron skillet, a little goes a long way. I expect this bottle will last a very long time. This is one of the better cost per fluid ounce options for board oil.

I originally purchased Mystery Oil for my new maple butcher block countertop, after doing due-diligence research and reading extensive reviews. It does what it's supposed to do on butcher block: moisturizes. However, I probably don't oil it as frequently as I should (maybe once per month?) and it gets a lot of (ab)use as a cutting board, so I think it could use a thicker and more protective product. I'm going to try Boos Block Board Cream with Beeswax (and since I'm an experimenter, I've also ordered Howard Butcher Block Conditioner as a comparison).HOWEVER, what I wasn't expecting is that Mystery Oil works amazingly well in two other applications: wood furniture and soapstone! It is fantastic on my antique maple, pine, and cherry furniture--much better than lemon oil. It penetrates and moisturizes better, leaving a beautiful semi-glossy finish that lasts longer than a lemon oil application. On my soapstone kitchen countertops it's perfect: during application it seems silkier than straight mineral oil. I simply smooth on a thin layer of the oil with a microfiber cloth (dedicated to Mystery Oil application and never washed), allow it to soak in for a few hours, and then rub down the countertops with a clean cloth to remove any excess, leaving a soft, non-oily glow. As anyone who has soapstone countertops knows, they can dry out and appear dull (which is not a bad look, actually), and soapstone is also soft and scratches easily. An application of Mystery Oil and all scratches and marks disappear, while water beads up and is easily wiped away.

The product is one of a two part system for oiling cutting boards. I was impressed with how quickly my order was processed and received. The bottle was very well sealed . It is perfect for sealing and refurbishing the wood as the board dries out over time and with use. It is easy to use and works well.

    Expensive but does it's job.

Excellent product, wish there were Indian makes to choose from but if you need food grade mineral oil this seems to be the only item available. If someone reading this knows of an Indian outlet that sells food grade mineral oil please leave a reply.
