I'm someone who thinks that if you truly like and respect an artist then you have to buy his or her studio albums and not just greatest hits complinations. So I'm not really into Michael Jackson compilations, as I rather buy the studio albums. But this one isn't just another greatest hits compilation. Besides Michael's greatest hits it also contains rareties, demos (many of them are as great as the released material - Cheater is a big favorite of mine and the We Are The World demo on which Michael is singing the whole song is, in my opinion, better than the well known US for Africa version), film music from The Wiz and Captain EO, songs from the Jackson 5 and the Jacksons.It leads you through Michael's career from the Jackson 5 to 2004 when this boxset was released. Hours of great and at times mesmerizing music - Michael Jackson style. There is also a concert DVD included (Bucharest 1992).I was pleasantly surprised by the package which is very beautifully done and of excellent quality. There also comes a 57-page book with the package with color pictures and writings about Michael's career.If you are a casual Michael Jackson fan and don't want to buy all the studio albums, but want an essence of Michael then this is the boxset I recommend to you. If you are a more hard core fan then that's why you have to have it in your collection.

I'm only a casual listener of Michael Jackson so I thought buying this Ultimate Collection would be a great place to start listening to the body of his work. This is an excellent compilation of MJ's work. From his work with the Jackson 5 to his global reaching solo work. Add in a fantastic DVD of one of his concerts in Bucharest and this is one heckuva great listening package. A must have for any MJ fan.

These 22 tracks alone make this set worth the purchase for any fan of Michael Jackson. It's surprising that these demos and completed songs were never released until this came out. I'd love to hear alot more of Michael Jackson's unreleased music. This is the best collection I have ever purchased.No matter if you only have one or two MJ CDs, are a big fan or just discovered this man's talent, this is the set you should buy. Sony did an great job with this. I am excited to hear more of Micheal's unreleased demo songs. :)

I loved this set I got it for christmas but the only problem I have is that the fifth disc doesn’t work at all. Luckily they are songs that I already have on different cds.

Fantastic Album. But the DVD won't play.
I love the whole collection of CD, especially the tracks and demos the have not been released on Michael's other albums. However, I am really disappointed,even devastated with the DVD (5), as it doesn't play. Yet there are a lot of UK reviews that appear to have been able to watch the live concert. Can someone tell me why some UK reviewers were able to play the DVD, but I can't? I love the booklet.

Excellent collection of MJ's many, many charting tracks
What can you really say about a collection of the top hits from one of the most prolific artists of the last 40 years? This collection has practically every "hit" (whether they topped the charts or not) that you'd know from MJ's prolific career. A read over the CD contents will show the artist's talent for producing high-quality tracks, many of which were ground-breaking in their own right (Thriller being a great example).None of these tracks seem to have been remastered from their original releases, which is a bit unfortunate, but the mastering is still pretty good. If you don't want to acquire each album MJ released over the decades, this collection is a great way to collect the best tracks at a relatively reasonable price.

Ultimate and Without A Doubt Incredible
An absolute gem, I wanted this for the longest time and now I have it, I can't stop listening to all the bonus tracks. Michael Jackson's Ultimate Collection is a pure example of an artist with an amazing discography that would be considered MANDATORY for artists in waiting to study before they try their chance at fame. Of this was a textbook on artistry - this would be the Magnum Opus.
