5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent juicer.

This is the best juicer made for home use. Well made, and well constructed. It has two speeds. One for hard fruits and vegetables, the other for soft fruits and vegetable. The red button shuts it off. It is easy to clean. I highly recommend it.Okay, I am going to revise my review. Before you buy a product, the most important reviews to read are the ones that rate a product the lowest. I have only used my juicer a dozen times. Fruits and vegetables are expensive, so the real cost of a juicer is not the juicer but the cost of stuff you put into it.I personally had no problem using the this juicer. I thought it made juice quickly. I didn't have a problem with juicer leaking like others here have. After reading the one-star reviews, I conclude the following: Breville has poor customer service. This machine only has a one-year warranty compared to much longer warranties given by other manufacturers. Some people like the cheap $90 Jack Lalaine juicer better than than this one. Some people have a problem with the spinning, cutting disk getting dull after very short use.I bought this juicer to make a drink called "Happy's Special" sold at Julio's Juice Bar and Natural Foods Emporium. The drink is made from carrots, beets, apples, cucumbers, celery, spinach, ginger, and garlic. I would add parsley, a splash of lemon juice, salt and pepper to taste. I juice the beet stalks. This juicer does a good job making this drink which I really can't make in the Vitamix. I add ice to the Vitamix when I make Happy's Special. Julio's adds no ice, and serves it warm.I learned you have to add the garlic and ginger in a shoot full of fruits and vegetable or they will shoot back up the shute or shoot into the pulp container without being juiced. I find that my pulp is relatively dry. I wouldn't use this juicer for juicing soft fruits like blueberries or tomatoes. I think the Vitamix does a much better job on these. Here are some other recipes from Julio's:Valencia: Carrots, beets, and orangesHappy's Special: Carrots, beets, ginger, garlic, celery, parsley, spinach, and apples, cucumberCucumber Summer: Cucumbers, pineapple, and celeryImmune Zoom: Carrots, beets, celery, ginger, garlic, lemons, and orangesClean Sweep: tomatoes, pepper, carrots, celery, and dash of tabasco sauceV-6: Carrots, beets, celery, spinach, tomatoes, and parsleyRuby Red Juice: Carrots, beets, and celeryGreen Goddess: Celery, parsley, spinach, cucumbers, cilantro, romaine lettuce, apples, and limesFantasy: Beets, carrots, kiwi, and blueberryHappy Days: Carrots, beets, and apples.Julio's use a centrifugal juicer to juice carrots, and maybe beets. I am not sure about the beets. He pours the carrot juice (or carrot-beet mixture) into a Vitamix. Then adds the rest of the fruits and vegetables. Whole oranges, apple quarters, pineapples, and blueberries should be "juiced" in the Vitamix. You can even juice a certain amount of carrot in a Vitamix. It is just that carrots (and most likely beets) have too great a ratio of fiber to juice.I would only juice the carrots and beets. You probably lose too much expensive fruit and vegatable in the Breville.I would "juice" the apples, pineapple, ginger, garlic, spinach, and cucumbers in the Vitamix. I think you can juice celery in either machine. I would chop the celery up into one-inch lengths before I added it to the Vitamix because it is stringy.I feed food into the Breville as slowly as I possibly can. The faster you feed food into a juicer, the less efficient it becomes. Just because you can juice a dozen carrots and a apple in a few seconds does not mean you have to do so. I wrap one of my hands around the Breville plunger to prevent my other hand from feeding food too quckly. I literially feed in food as slow as I possibly can, allow the blade of the juicer to do all the work. Remember slower feed means more juice, and less waste.Google Julio's Natural Food Emporium to get a list of their great smoothies. I especially recommend their: Tantra, Planet Energy, and Wai-kee-kee
5.0 out of 5 stars Oh Ya!
I love this thing! I was using a smaller less powerful juicer and decided that I needed something faster and that would reduce prep time. I was spending a lot of time cutting my fruit and veggies just so I could get it into my old juicer. To be fair, my other juicer worked fine and did what it was suppose to, it just wasn't efficient for my needs.I love Breville products and I had great expectations for this juicer. I did my research and I knew what I features I was looking for. I wanted something that had a powerful motor to grind through harder fruit and produce with out bogging the motor and I wanted a juicer that had a feed channel that would minimize my prep time. I came across a few models and brands that seemed to fit the criteria, but my love for Breville products (based on experience and not marketing) made my decision simple. After learning more about the juicers that fit my criteria I really felt that buying a juicer that was all metal was in my best interest. Aesthetically it fit my preference and taste and fit in with my current line-up of small kitchen appliances. Materially, the stainless steel seemed a more durable option than the resin plastics of other brands. Additionally, stainless steel in my opinion, is easier to sterilize and holds up well in the dishwasher and I don't have to worry about fading or cracking. Now on to the juicing. I opened the box and to my expectation the juicer was packed well. I came out of the box ready to use. I cleaned the parts that would touch my juice as recommended. I turned on the motor and was surprised at how quiet it was. My smaller juicer sounded like a chainsaw in comparison, not to mention the motor on my smaller juicer was only 125w compared to the 1000w of the 800JEXL. I expected that it would be louder just because of the motor size difference but again it was surprisingly quite.I juiced apples, carrots, celery, oranges, pears, beets, cucumber, kale, spinach and ginger to make my normal juice. It took literally 5 minutes whereas my older juicer took about a half hour. Prep of produce and fruit was easy as I did not need to cut anything. It all fit right into the large feed tunnel - one of the key reasons I bought this juicer. I noticed that I got more juice out of this juicer than my previous one. I know now that is because of the motor and juicing mesh. Because of the motor size combined with the mesh, the combination extracts more juice from the produce and fruit. This ultimately saves me money in the long run although I am not able to quantify that at this point considering I have only been using it for a couple of weeks now.All-in-all, I HIGHLY recommend this juicer! Breville is a GREAT brand and I am pleased with their quality and performance. The description of the machine in the manufacturers marketing is as promised and it is understated in my opinion. I appreciate quality and although this model may seem a bit high in price for some, I can only say you get what you pay for!

Great Juicer!
This is a powerful juicer that is a perfect fit for my needs. It does a great job on the fruits/vegetables I'm primarily interested in juicing ( carrots, apples, pears, pineapples, etc. ) and the ones it doesn't do well on are ones I'd most likely be throwing in a blender, not a juicer. For example, there's no way I'd ever want a full glass of things like parsley or spinach juice, but I might want to add those things to other juices in which case I'd throw them whole into my vitamix along with the juice produced by the Breville. I've read reviews complaining about very wet pulp and I suspect that's due to pushing product through too quickly. This monster can devour a whole apple in under a second but to get the most juice you'll want to push it through at a slow steady pace ( eg maybe in 10 seconds instead of 1). I measured a yield of 70% juice by weight for carrots and 77% juice by weight for Fuji apples. That's good enough for me especially when it juices that quickly. It's also easy to clean. The only cons are some things produce a good amount of foam but the pitcher does a good job of filtering out the foam. I wouldn't pay their current asking price ( about $600 CDN ) since their are better juicers at that price point even by Breville but it's often available as a Warehouse deal in the $150-$200 range at which point it's a great deal.
