Fit an older Fluval 405 I got when buying a used tank. The lock on the old one was broken so I got this to replace it. Perfect fit and has the filter up and running with no issues.

I ordered this based on the picture, which matched the visual appearance of my old Fluval 405 Aquastop valve, which had gotten weak over the years and finally snapped after ~13 years of service. Unlike the picture, the one that arrived was black and red, and the top lever was shaped in a slightly different and seemingly more robust way. Had me slightly worried at first, but it was a direct, easy swap. Didn't even have to really move anything...I just pulled the Aquastop end of the hoses up above the top of the tank so the water wouldn't start siphoning out once I pulled off the old valve, then changed it right there so any drips just went back into the tank. In total, maybe a 5 minute change-out assuming you have decent access to it all.

Bought this because one tip broke on my old Fluval 104 I got in a "box of fish junk" with a tank, stand, hood, heater, etc for $5 on Craigslist (SCORE!!) and I wanted to use it on my frog tank. The old one had a bottleneck where shed frog skins and plant matter and rocks would stop the whole thing up. The new manual aquastop allows free flow. Now the plant matter and frog skins get trapped in the filter where they belong. It looked too big when I got it I almost returned it because it is WAY larger than the one that comes with the filter. It is the new mechanism. It does fit and I love it!!

I have two Fluval 305's and and Fluval 106, and the Aquastop feature on these filters is their weakest link. When the AquaStop is new it works great, and makes these filters very convenient to use.However, after a year or so, the plastic starts to lose its integrity, so the Aquastop becomes difficult to reinstall after I clean a Fluval 305.Moreover, it tends to leak when opening or closing it.At least the AquaStop feature for the 05 and 06 series can be purchased at a discount, which takes some of the sting out of having to replace them ever few years.Other than that I really like my Fluval 305 canister filters. The 305's a workhorse of a filter that does a fine job of keeping the water in two of my planted aquaria nice and clean.The fact this filter (list price $270) usually sold for about $180 before it was replaced by Fluval's 06 series,makes the ones which I purchased new for $89.95 and 119.95great bargains.And as a fishkeeper I am always looking to make this hobby as affordable as possible.

When I got this valve, I was worried about the fit - only because it was a different color than the one that originally came with my filter. Well, it fit my 405 like a glove and doesn't leak!~ The internal o-rings on my original valve had finally given out after years of use - and there's no way to replace them (trust me, I already tried). These are the parts that pet stores should be carrying as they are usually emergency items. Not one pet store near me carried them - and they wonder why Bolo is taking over the world.The next day prime delivery was a life saver as I had to leave my 75 gallon tank not filtering until this arrived along with a new housing o-ring. Filter is running, not leaking, and I no longer have anxiety over this.

The lever on the original aquastop for my Fluval 204 was very difficult to engage/disengage. I was always worried that I'd break it or the filter cover when trying to get it to move. I finally decided to buy this replacement. It turns out that I broke the old one this morning, so I'm really glad I ordered this replacement.What a difference this one makes! It's now easy to connect and disconnect the hoses so I can clean the filter. My original aquastop must have been defective as it never worked as smoothly as this one does. It works with the original hoses and canister filter lid, no problems at all.

Fixed the leak
I inherited an old Fluval 205 canister filter which was leaking. Replacing this value as well as the filter head gasket (bought separately) did the trick.
