I bought some other brands at our local supermarket, and they do not have the same quality even though they are made by some of the national brands.

This Chinese Five Spice powder is high quality! Just like what I got at Chinese Herb Store in Taiwan. I will keep buying it in the future.

I had a Taiwanese brand of 5 spice powder that I bought at 99 Ranch I ran out of that I used to make the marinade for my Taiwanese pork chop dish. So I bought a five spice powder from Whole Foods and it completely ruined the dish.PRO TIP: if you are making anything that’s Chinese/Taiwanese and the recipe called for 5 spice powder, be sure to use CHINESE 5 spice powder. DO NOT USE the five spice powder from American markets. Those contains mostly cinnamon and cloves. Dynasty Chinese Five Spice powder was the next best thing I could find that makes my pork chop authentic tasting. I think it’s the star anise, ginger and licorice root that makes it tasty.

I've never used Chinese Five Spices before, but we had a holiday goose and I wanted to try it in combination with citrus to flavor the bird. It was a real winner and I loved the spice combo. In fact, I like it so much that I'm finding other recipes just to use more of it.This brand seemed to be of good quality and fresh, as well as being reasonably priced. We live in the country and don't have any stores that would carry such things, so I was really glad to find it online.If you've got a recipe that calls for it, I highly recommend giving this one a shot.
