I've been a Yes fan since 1977 so it's no surprise it's taken me 7 years to buy this product. Why? The bonus material on disc 3 is only available on the US edition and living in the UK it's taken me this long to track down a copy. It is a surprise then to find that some of the tracks on disc 2 of this set are different to the versions I already have in my collection. Had I known this before would I have bought the UK edition? No. As I already have "Classic Yes" [CD] (1981), "YesYears" [4CD box set] (1991) and "In a Word: Yes" [5CD box set] (2002) I am full up with Yes anthologies.However, on the basis that this album is intended for the interested music fan who is not a big Yes fan then I can happily make a cautious recommendation on the basis that much of the music in this set is definitive. "Roundabout", "Heart of the Sunrise", and "And You and I" are all regarded as classics. "Owner of a Lonely Heart", "Rhythm of Love" and "Going for the One" are great rock songs. You even get to hear some of the music that the band made in the nineties though some of the alternative versions are merely premature fades and those that are remixes don't improve on the original album versions.So 4 stars it is because most of these songs are personal favourites (I can't argue with the song selection) and I guess it would have been 5 stars if I didn't already have most of these recordings many times over.

I love this album. It has a little bit of everything mixed into one set. I personally like the older stuff they did back in the 70's. I prefer that style over their newer releases. It has two of my very favorite tracks on it "I've Seen All Good People" and Roundabout. The sound quality is very good. Some remastered. Only thing I don't much care for are "single sdits" which some are but I can live with that. Overall, this is a great collection to have of the most awesome, radical, glorious Yes!I have to add something else here though. Some of you people keep whining and complaining you don't want to pay for anymore of these albums. You don't have to. No one is putting a gun to your head and saying you have to buy every new album. You don't have to own every album to be a die hard Yes fan. In fact, I personally think it's ridiculous having already all the songs why would you spend all the money to get another album you claim have almost all the same songs on it? Just pick the best one with the tracks you prefer on it. Stop complaining about these new albums being released and down grading them just cause they have same songs from other albums. That does not make it a bad album. You don't like it again, you don't have to buy it. Save your money for something else. It's that simple folks. Not trying to come off as rude but I'm getting tired of hearing people whine and complain when they don't have to buy the album. Yes is not telling you to spend your money on their albums you are doing it on your own free will. Also, I don't think Yes would appreciate it that you are calling yourself die hard fans but then calling them "Greedy money hoarders" I mean seriously what kind of fans would say that to a band they really love. I don't think the band would particularly like that and consider you a cool fan. If you love them that much you would just be thankful the music is around and you can obtain it at all. Sadly some of these earlier albums people are mentioning are no longer in print and I wish I could have got my hands on a copy. So just enjoy the music folks. Yes rocks!

I've bought almost everything Yes ever released, and I bought In A Word, and I bought Yesspeak, and I bought not only Japanese mini-albums but the excellent Rhino remasters, so why in the name of all that is sane, would I buy yet another Yes package? It's not like I don't know every single Yes song by heart? It's not like I don't have the Roger Dean cover of Tales from a Topographical Ocean framed on my wall. It's not like my computer wall paper is the Yes logo from Live in Philadelphia (which I also own).I'll tell you why I bought Ultimate Yes: the unplugged tracks on disk three. I know that I'm not the only person to do this, judging from the other reviews for this release. Was the price worth the music? In a word: Yes.The third disk starts off with an abridged version of "Roundabout" totally performed on acoustic instruments, including the grand piano. The song's complexities, rather than being lost without the electronic textures, instead jump out. Hearing Rick Wakeman's many ornamentations and ostinatos on piano brought them through the mix clearly. Steve Howe's guitar shaded and lightened. Yes swung like Bob Wills and the Texas Playboys on acid.Show me, a more recent song, wasn't as good as the two older pieces around it, but I liked the acoustic Yes sound that showcased Anderson's voice.The acoustic South Side of the Sky blew me away. Steve Howe's bottleneck guitar just turned the song inside out for me. I've always loved this song, and I'm glad Yes are putting back into their shows.Australia, a piece from Steve Howe's first solo album "Beginnings" sounds ever so much better than the electric version with vocals as he first performed the piece.Chris Squire's rendition of "Going Home," as a part of Dvorak's New World Symphony is okay, but not on same level as the other pieces here.I think an unplugged, unabridged Yes album would be worthwhile.

first off I can't belive that this cd traveled 5035 miles and is in tacked. Andrew packed the so well that Bolo should learn how he packed and shipped his CD maybe the ones I got from AMAZOM would have show up in tacked. I GIVE ANDREW A+++++ FOR his work and the CD is the best thank you. If you like YES then this is the CD to have. Thanks Andrew
