About the Author
"Jacob Ludwig Carl Grimm (1785-1863) and Wilhelm Carl Grimm (1786-1859) were born in Hanau, Hesse-Kassel, Holy Roman Empire (present-day Germany). After completing school, they joined the University of Marburg where they studied law. They also grew interested in folk poetry, philology, history, and began studying medieval German literature. In 1812, they published the first volume of their classic collection, with 86 folk tales, titled Kinder- und Hausmä rchen (known as Children’ s and Household Tales in English). Unlike the romantic, poetical fairy tales, these tales were as beautiful as they were violent and frightening, presenting life as it was. This volume was criticized as it was considered unsuitable for children. The second edition of Children’ s and Household Tales, commonly known as Grimms’ Fairy Tales, had a total of 170 tales published in three volumes. In every successive edition, which was elaborately illustrated, stories were revised, added, and subtracted. The seventh edition published in 1850 had a total of 211 tales.

This book is absolutely lovely! I have several books of fairy tale collections, including other versions of Grimm 's Fairy Tales, but this is definitely one of my favorites so far.

The book is absolutely stunning. Nice hardcover. I plan to gift this to a great niece or nephew. Just a glimpse into my childhood memories. I want to make sure that they get the chance to make their own memories from this.

Beautiful book but the pages are a little thin so you can see the shadows of the other words on the back of each page. It's still legible. But I know this might bother some people.

If you were brought up with you parents reading fairy tales to you at bed time then you would definitely like this book. It's the original fairy tales as written by The Brothers Grimm.

Un beau livre qui vient de trop loin
À la base, le livre est très beau. Jolis dessins, dorure y compris sur la tranche, illustrations à l’intérieur,… Mais le livre est expédié depuis… l’Inde! Et en plus sans aucune autre protection qu’on sac en plastique pour lequel il a fallu un travail d’orfèvre pour l’ouvrir sans abîmer (plus) le livre. Tous les coins sont écrasés, les couvertures ont des coups, des déchirures, et même les pages ont été froissées… bref, je ne recommande pas de l’acheter, en tout cas pas auprès de ce vendeur.

Nice read
I love it. I just didn't expect that it's written in old english, like the "you" as "thy" and some others.. anyway, it's still good, I love Fairy Tales and I do want to read the Grimms version. I like reading it especially when I'm bored and it's great that there's so much stories in it.
