Worth it for Epictetus alone. He was a true Stoic, a master at creating a survivor's mindset. He was an influence on the branch of psychology known as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy too.

The only book on Stoicism you need -- it's that good! Quotes from the greatest writers, edited to perfection. Lights up your soul with virtue. Much wow. Needs to be re-printed -- classic !

Surprisingly nice!

In fact, despite the description, I was expecting three small paperbacks in a flimsy case, which would still have been a good deal for $8.Instead, they are full size hardcover books with gilded pages and an integral cloth bookmark. The cover feels like a clothbound cover, though it's likely just textured cardboard, with gilded lettering and designs. The paper seems sturdy enough, but it's very translucent and the text from the other side "bleeds" through, interfering with the clarity of the text on the page, especially the heavier design elements. The typeface is comfortable, but some will find it small. The case itself is nice, thick cardboard with a silky smooth covering and matching gilded lettering and designs.The books are individually imprinted with a unit price, one at $23CAD ($17USD) and the other two at $20CAD ($15USD). That's actually a very reasonable price for books of this quality, which makes the price I paid for the set all the more impressive. The set itself is labeled $68CAD ($50USD), which is odd since it's more than the combined prices of the individual books. I guess they plan to charge extra for the case.As most people reading this will probably know, all three books are in the public domain and available for free electronically, so you're just paying for the luxury of having them on paper. Despite having many books on my iPad Mini, I still find it more pleasant to read a paper book, so I find the investment worthwhile. These three books also look reasonably decent, so they're fit for display.They've been sold out since I purchased mine, but if they ever return at a good price, jump on them.
