About the Author
"Born in London in 1608, John Milton was an English poet, polemicist, man of letters, and a civil servant for the Commonwealth of England under Oliver Cromwell. Milton wrote in the seventeenth century. It was the century of transition into our modern world, when the Civil Wars separated men from the older ways of living, and much that remained lively in the national imagination since the Middle Ages, was killed by the religious controversies. A great stylist and an experimentalist, Milton employed a language in this poem which is remarkable for sustained dignity.
Paradise Regained followed Paradise Lost. It was published alongside the tragedy Samson Agonistes. Milton saw life as a struggle, the Puritan struggle, for the survival of the good and the virtuous. Milton died of kidney failure in 1674, aged sixty-five, in Bunhill, London, England.

5.0 out of 5 stars Awesome and inspiring
This book is not for the casual reader but for the serious seeker of truth. Milton, who lived in the 1600’s had an astonishing store of knowledge about the universe, the earth sciences, politics and government, and the history of both the spirit and human worlds. I took an online course to help me grasp the meanings and concepts and encourage others to do the same if its too daunting to read it on your own.
5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent, very Professional
This is an excellent performance. This is an epic work that required y full attention. I had to read, study, and listen. But this performance is very professional. Thank You….
5.0 out of 5 stars Book came as advertised
I have read excerpts of this book but never the whole book. Being a big CS Lewis fan and older books by Chaucer and Shakespeare I can't wait to read it.
4.0 out of 5 stars Nice Pictures
If you are not familiar with Paradise Lost I suggest you be an astute reader before taking on the quest of reading John Milton. My first read in high school required cliff notes to get through it - mostly due to the fact that I had no knowledge of Greek Mythology so some references were lost on me. It's a classic so I feel like it should be read, even if long. People have no attention span today and this requires one. Amazed at how such a long story can be written in verse, just amazed.

Great addition to any personal library. Very good for a used book.
bought used so there is some damage on the back cover. The pages and spine are in excellent condition. A++++
Superb
Milton is brilliant. Be warned, though - the introduction by Collins is embarrassingly awful to the point of hilarious. Apparently we're to believe that Milton was a bit depressed, so he wrote Paradise Lost; then his mood improved, so he wrote Paradise Regained. Good grief. Anyway, ignore that and enjoy the theological genius of Milton.
Printed from a PDF most likely
A pixilated cover with a PDF style layout. It presents like a textbook. The indentation is awful and clearly a result of any attention given to design or style. There are no supplementary notes of any kind. This has clearly been printed on demand from some resource like the Gutunberg Project. Thoroughly disappointing. Many of these reviews are for a different product it would seem.
Excellent book for all the lovers of literature at this low price, thanks to maple classics.
Excellent book for all the lovers of literature at this low price, thanks to maple classics. The language is in archaic english which seems difficult at first read if you aren't acquainted with classic literature, but as you dive further in this vast ocean of literature, we soon find the pearls hidden within these shells of difficult words. One more thing that i found similarity is that the Bengali poet, michael madhusudan dutta was greatly inspired by this book and it was reflected in his epic poem "meghnad vadh kavya" in bengali language.
