Su interés profesional ha basculado entre dos polos: por una parte, desarrollar programas de prevención de conductas antisociales en niños y jóvenes; por otra, llegar a comprender y tratar a los agresores más implacables y sistemáticos, incluyendo agresores sexuales y delincuentes psicópatas. Impulsor de la psicología criminal y de la pedagogía correccional, es autor de un importante trabajo científico y de divulgación en el ámbito de la criminología y la readaptación de los delincuentes. Vicente Garrido holds a PhD in Psychology and a degree in Criminology, and is one of the pioneers and most recognized authorities in the field of violent criminology. His professional interest has oscillated between two poles: on one hand, developing prevention programs for antisocial behavior in children and young people; on the other, understanding and treating the most relentless and systematic offenders, including sexual aggressors and psychopathic criminals. A promoter of criminal psychology and correctional pedagogy, he is the author of significant scientific and popular works in the field of criminology and offender rehabilitation. He has been a consultant for the United Nations on crime prevention in Latin America and a strong advocate for programs to treat young people and adults, about which he has published numerous articles and books, including El rastro del asesino, Cara a cara con el psicópata, Los hijos tiranos, Perfiles criminales, El psicópata integrado y La mente criminal.
