5.0 out of 5 stars Supplemental textbook for my Adv. Power Elec. Course

J.B. · June 26, 2024

Excellent book for power electronics. Small signal analsis was extremely helpful for control loop design. Highly recommend.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent

M.&.J.S. · March 27, 2021

This is an excellent book on Power Electronics. Best one in my library of many. Covers a lot, and it's explained well. There are a few times where the authors seem to skip over important steps without explaining, but those are rare.

This book is being used to teach. I purchased for my faculty member. It is exactly what he needs.

4.0 out of 5 stars Unwieldy in its present binding on one single volume. Should be offered as two volumes.

B.B. · April 19, 2025

On the positive side:The book is very good in its detailed explanation of mathematical models of power converters, how to model power converters for computer simulation, Middlebrook's Extra Element Theorem, design of magnetics and many other topics of power electronics design. On the negative side:The book is 1084 pages long. Binding a book this long in ONE SINGLE VOLUME is a very dumb choice. The book is unwieldy to handle. Want to take the book to school to study there? Forget about it. The book will take all the space in your bag.Why not bind this book in TWO SEPARATE VOLUMES???

1.0 out of 5 stars Binding is as bad as the reviews say.

A.d.c. · July 6, 2025

As so many other reviewers have said, the binding is simply unacceptable for a book of this size — and cost. Picture was taken when the book was just out of the package. It had never even been opened and already the pages are letting go from the cover.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great book but poor binding

K. · July 22, 2024

This book is an excellent EE resource for power electronics. I really like it, and always the first book I grab to use as reference in power electronics. However, I have to use extra glue to reinforce the binding. The binding is very poor.

3.0 out of 5 stars Great book. Horrid book binding

t. · July 31, 2024

The book has exceptional content, it's *the* reference book for power management system design. The binding is another story though. My book had 34 pages fall out as soon as I opened it and at least another 100 pages seem ready to fall out. The glue used at the printing plant not only seemed insufficient but looked like it was crumbling already.

2.0 out of 5 stars Poor printing quality and binding

S. · December 30, 2021

The book content and witing is phenomenal, this is really a reference book in this field. I have previous 2nd edition that I purchased when it was published. Unfortunatelly, I had to return this new book, and cancel the order because the printing on this edition was messed up. The entire page content is shifted several lines up, leaving a large blank space at the bottom of each page. It is very annoying for reading. Also, the cover of the book I received was scratched and had some stains on it, probably due to poorly shippping packaging. The binding seems pretty weak, for book of this size, and it looks like other buyers noticed the same.I am not sure what happened, why is this edition of so poor printing quality. The previous edition was superb, I am was using it at work often as reference textbook, and it held together all these years.

Great Material, Poor Binding

A.C. · December 11, 2022

The material covered in this book is absolutely fantastic. However, the quality of the hardcover is severely lacking. At 1084 pages, this is a hefty text and the weak and low quality binding feels substandard. I don't see it lasting very long with any significant use.Does not help that Bolo shipped the book by just throwing it into a padded envelope with no support. Luckily it arrived safely, but looking at past reviews you can see that not everyone was as lucky.

This is the best power electronics book ever!

A. · September 3, 2025

This is the best book ever! I have over 10 power electronics books from different authors, but this one remains far at the top of my list. It explains the power electronics concept very thoroughly—more thoroughly than most. The content isn't quite as fundamental as the title suggests. You need to have already passed some standard power electronics courses at the university level, like power electronics I and II, to understand the book materials. The quality of papers and print, and figures is very good.
