5.0 out of 5 stars A great addition to an already impressive series.

The newest in the series. What can I say? It ticks all the boxes that I love to read. It kept me reading non-stop from start to finish which is not really an easy thing to do. The biggest complaint I had was that it was just not long enough and oh ya, there isn't another book to read after this one yet.The storyline was really detailed and made me want to go out and try being a fire watch. I think one of the biggest compliments you can give a book is while reading it it's so well written that you feel like you're in the story, you can visualize the surroundings, hear the conversations as if you're with the characters. Those are the great books. The ones that you place on your shelf, digital or otherwise, knowing that you'll revisit the world created by the author again in the future.I read a lot of books, almost 100 last year and I can tell you that the books that make it to my shelf for the future are rare and even more rare is multiple books from the same author but this is one of those books and one of those authors. If this is the first book from the author that you're looking at then jump to the beginning of the series. you won't be sorry, well except for the lighter wallet since you'll be buying a few books.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great thriller

This is book number 6 of a 21 book series. Well written and action packed. Jack Widow is very similar to Lee Child’s Reacher series. I sometimes wonder if Reacher is Widow’s father? If you’re a Jack Reacher fan you’ll like Scott Blade’s Jack Widow thrillers.

5.0 out of 5 stars To be alone with a beautiful woman.

Great read. Characters were rough, except for the women. Great story with some wonderful detail about the surrounding areas. Almost felt as though was there. Scott you have me hooked.

5.0 out of 5 stars SMOOOOOOOOOKIN’!!!!!🔥

“Fire Watch” has to be the best of the series! Jack Widow gets a little lovin’ and a lot of action. If you don’t know, Widow is a former Navy SEAL and NCIS Agent who now roams the country looking for a little peace and quiet. Trouble just follows him everywhere, though, but he is the kind of man you really want in your corner. The author, Scott Blade, gives us a fascinating tutorial on the men and women who watch for fires in our National Forests. He describes the Osborne Firefinder in use, and the living conditions of the people who love the work. The storyline has Widow helping Korean store owners from thieving thugs, and then sort of falling into a temporary job as a firefinder. There are overwhelmingly evil DEA Agents, bought by drug cartels, heroic FBI and state police, and another opportunity for Widow to be a true hero. This book could use another editing, but all in all it is an exciting, entertaining, and suspenseful read!

4.0 out of 5 stars Good entertaining read with satisfying end

J.A.M. · October 26, 2019

The fours stars instead of five is only because I prefer a story that stays on a regular timeline. The first several chapters changed timeline from past to present in alternating fashion and I personally did not see the need but that is purely my preference. The characters were pretty well developed however the story itself, action included took preference. It's easy to like the main character and also easy to tell the good from the bad guys. All in all a very enjoyable read.

5.0 out of 5 stars Awesome!

Just another day for Jack, doing his thing and using those Navy SEAL skills to help people out. And hey, he even scores a date with a pretty lady by the end of it.

3.0 out of 5 stars The Stone cutter is fantastic. The Jack Widow series is also great

T.D.M. · February 21, 2018

I have read every Scott Blade novel. The Stone cutter is fantastic. The Jack Widow series is also great, But,, This book seems to be rushed. Rushed in the writing, and also in the release. I found so many typos and incorrect sentence structures, I cannot believe the editors did not catch them. This book has NO mention of Jack Reacher, & the character Jack Cameron (Reacher) seems to be gone forever, Legal issues with Lee Child ?Also, as a former Fire look out, it seems no real research was done on terminology, and facts. I have never heard of a "Ranger Shack" or some of the other terms, The National Park Service is under The department of the Interior , NOT the department of Agriculture, ( U.S. Forest Service). He seems to have those 2 agencies mixed up.Not Scott Blades best effort, but still a good read. The ending seemed rushed also.

5.0 out of 5 stars Masterful

W.J.B. · June 9, 2024

Where book 4 started slow and felt like a Reacher knock off, Fire Watch surpassed most books in the genre. Pacing and humanity to perfection. Balancing the hyper competent Widow with human moments that make him a believable person, not just another flawless super soldier. What a joy to read.

Congenial Reacher Infusion !
