About the Author

Eric Jensen, PhD, is a former teacher and the author of more than 28 books. Since the early 1990s, he has synthesized brain research and developed practical applications for educators.

Keep your pencil or highlighter handy! This book is full of useful information and actionable ideas to help reach your students. This book thoroughly explains how poverty can affect all aspects of students' lives and the ways they learn. This book would be useful to any teacher who wants to engage with their students in a more meaningful way, whether or not the students come from poverty.

Eric Jensen makes it so simple. Of course it is challenging to meet the needs of each students, but Eric Jensen has an easy-to-understand style. It is like he is here explaining the strategies. I bought the book a few months ago, but I find myself referring to it. If you have Title 1 students, this is a great book.
