Five Parsecs From Home is a solo adventure game where your own crew of humans, robots and aliens take to the stars, find jobs, get into fights and encounter the strange things the galaxy has to offer. Battles are procedurally generated with a huge array of combinations of enemies, weapons, battlefield circumstances and objectives whether fighting rivals or carrying out jobs. With each encounter you earn experience and loot, progressing your crew and story as you send your crew to look for contacts, trade, explore the colony, recruit replacements or train up their skills. The game is playable with any miniatures you have on hand and requires only a small number to get started, making it ideal for both experienced and new science fiction gamers. Create a wide range of characters whether human, alien or robot. Generate a huge array of possible missions, with more than 50 enemy types. After each battle, check for injuries, level up, find new gear or upgrade your starship. Random tables for towns, trade, jobs, character events and starship travel. 5 difficulty settings plus super-hard Black and Red Zone jobs. Extensive options for Game Mastered RPG-like campaigns with connected plots, environmental hazards and factional conflict. Made in Lithuania.

This game is a squad-based tactical RPG Lite game, with influences such as W40K Rogue Trader (the original 40K), Firefly (the TV show), and the Xcom video games.It's built around solo play using miniatures and a few sets of "artificial intelligence" guidelines for how to handle opposing figures. Aggressive Blood Storm mercs are different than simple Security Bots, who are different from a pack of animalistic Sand Runner raptors.(Alternatively, you could draw everything on a sheet of grid paper and "play" by paper. The rules discuss grid-based play, such as square tiled battle mats. However, that also can easily be applied to drawings on grid paper, like my photo.)Your side is a 6-person team of mercenaries, rogues, and big time heroes who are making their way around the fringes of civilized space.Out of combat, there are random tables to handle all the messy stuff that happens between missions. It's the in between mission stuff that allows for interesting story growth for the characters in your squad... From scrounging up new guns, making new friends or enemies on your current planet, or even finding True Love.Overall, a nice game with a lot of potential. The rules aren't overly intrusive, and you could manage an entire campaign with single game journal lined with graph paper. Very good fuel for solo gaming.I'll definitely check out the fantasy version when it's released.

This system allows for travel to different planets, each with enough unique aspects to be interesting and fun. The combat system plays quickly, with opponents reacting differently to what your team does and makes it better than a "u-go, enemy-goes" system by allowing for characters to go sometimes before, sometimes after, the enemies. Enemies have different approaches, and you can end up with opponents you did not expect! The various missions have enough variability that they do not feel repetitive. I have been very pleased with this base book and most of the supplements. You will not be disappointed!

I love the RPG/Wargame mix of this game. Everything rules wise is in this book and up to date. If you have scifi minis lying around, build your crew and give this a try.

The book is nicely bound. The size is convenient for use at the table. The game itself is great for solo tabletop or virtual tabletop wargaming with a very clever system for training generating content for engaging role-playing. The text could use some editing. Some game terms are used inconsistently, for example. And index and glossary would be nice additions.

...and you should definitely do that. This is a very well done, complete-feeling oracle for a sci-fi solo story generator with tabletop tactical mini-agnostic... yeah... it tickles just everything I want. And the book is nice and small, with good binding and thick pages.Look for an index on boardgamegeek; seriously, how could ANYONE think a rulebook can be finished without an index???

Right away you can tell it was well printed, this is a sturdy book that will survive a lot of gaming. Inside is some good art and well laid out rules along with great story clips and forks design. It plays easily with miniatures, on paper, or just in your imagination.

Seit ich es ausprobiert habe, kann ich nicht mehr aufhören.Es ist nicht nur der Vorteil, dass man es auch alleine spielen kann (was mir persönlich am besten gefällt) oder dass man wirklich jede beliebige Miniatur verwenden darf, sondern auch die aktive Community in den sozialen Netzwerken, die man sehr zu schätzen weiß.Das Regelsystem ist leicht zu erlernen, die Charakterentwicklung geht schnell voran und es bleibt dennoch eine echte Herausforderung.Mit dem Kompendium der drei Erweiterungen wird das Spiel deutlich, ja enorm besser – ich empfehle ehrlich gesagt, beides direkt zusammen zu kaufen.Ohne die Erweiterung kann sich das Grundspiel manchmal etwas … flach anfühlen, aber die kreative Freiheit und die Möglichkeit, den Schwierigkeitsgrad in jeder Kampagne zu steigern, sind wirklich sehr interessant.Fünf Sterne sind dafür eigentlich zu wenig.Übrigens: Das Buch (und man wird es sehr oft benutzen) ist von ausgezeichneter Qualität, mit Hardcover und hoher Widerstandsfähigkeit.
Fantastic solo or co-op game
An easy to learn and play game.Players only need a small area to play in, and a handful of figures in order to play the game.Campain rules are included so that your adventures can keep on going as long as you like.For some reason the review process is asking for the suggested age for children, but given this is a wargame, and most people that play the game are adults, I feel that Bolo could do with a reclassification on this game.
Excellent book, great game
This is a top-notch production. The artwork and layout are very well done. The rules are clear and concise, and put in a very logical order to learn the game. The game itself is very solid, and a great choice for thematic tabletop gaming. Build on your crew and seeing them evolve over the campaign is a lot of fun.

Five Parsecs from Home es compacto en todos los sentidos. No le pongo 5 estrellas por que por ese precio, y teniendo menos de 200 paginas, esperaba un reglamento en formato A4. Está a medio camino entre el A4 y el A5, así que quedará un poco raro en la estanteria. La calidad del papel es alta, pero dado que es un juego que para jugar lo tienes que usar mucho (recalcitrante expresión, pero real como la vida misma), espero que estén bien pegadas al lomo.
