Marrin avoids both psychobabble and outrage as he discusses the childhood influences and failures as a young adult that led to Hitler's destructive, racist personality.... A useful, enlightening study of what created Hitler the madman. --Publishers Weekly
About the Author
Chairman of the history department at New York's Yeshiva University, Marrin's books have made the past accessible to young readers. In award-winning books such as 1812: The War Nobody Won, Cowboys, Indians, and Gunfighters: The Story of the Cattle Kingdom, and "Unconditional Surrender": U. S. Grant and the Civil War, he has created a tapestry of United States history by focusing on dramatic moments and famous personalities. With biographies of leaders and tyrants from Napoleon to Hitler, Marrin has also interpreted the events of a larger world stage for juvenile readers. Additionally, his several books on the First and Second World Wars provide well-organized introductions to many aspects of those struggles.

We love this author and highly recommend his books! 15 year old daughter loves this book!
5.0 out of 5 stars A Forgotten Story
My life experience of talking with others is that details shared by Marrin are largely forgotten. We Americans may have a broad view of what happened during the Second World War, but we are grossly ignorant of the details. Marin’s Hitler is a fascinating read that will enlighten students and give them the passion to remember evil and passionately protect valuable human life.
4.0 out of 5 stars Good Insight
This book takes a look at Hitler and his life. It is a good read for a mature person who is able to differentiate right from wrong. A bit disturbing, glimpsing into the psychy of such a wicked man, but still a good book.
4.0 out of 5 stars Good overview of Hitler's life
This was the first book I've read about Hitler, and it was recommended reading for our history curriculum. My son and I both enjoyed the reading style which provided a lot of information without being too wordy. I like the Albert Marrin books because they give the information in a straight forward manner.
1.0 out of 5 stars Missing Pages
One of the copies I purchased was missing pages 139-192. Unfortunately, I discovered this after the return window closed.
