This is a great book! It is very interesting to read to my grandchildren about real people with inspiring stories. I hope it helps them realize they can do great things too. My granddaughter always chooses it to read.

This simple little book is written and illustrated nicely . I bought it for our 8 year old granddaughter for Christmas . I plan on accompanying the book with a sewing kit and sketchbook .The book is simple with a good message .I am going to purchase for an 80 year old fan of Coco Chanel's . Of course the wrapping in elegant Coco style will be fun !

The media could not be loaded. We started with two biographies from the same series, but in board book format. They were Marie Curie and Maya Angelou. They have consistently been my 7 year old daughter’s favorite books for 4-5 years! We even visited Marie Curie’s lab in Paris.These hard cover books in the same series do not disappoint. I love this one on Coco Chanel — people thought that she was strange. But look what she did, she listened to her own heart and changed the shape (literally) of fashion! I highly recommend this whole series.

Got this for my L.O school project. It was a great introduction to the life of Coco. We also looked up a few more things for her that wasn't in the book. But overall the basics are in here... It didn't mention her favorite animal being the lion and that's why her buttons have them on it. I thought that would've been nice for kids to know and even remember because most kids love animals.. Nevertheless I would still buy it again. Also my daughter is high functioning special needs and she read this book mostly with ease. She needed help with orphanage and one other word (I forget). And at the last page she wanted help when she saw how long it was lol

A brilliant read; totally inspirational and a true role model for creative and energetic minds.Coco Chanel was a name I was familiar with and knew vaguely why she was famous but this little book designed for children brought me a potted biography that was both interesting and informative.So many kids could fall by the wayside due to ill fortune or insurmountable circumstances. Yet, little Gabrielle Chanel overcame the loss of her Mum and an interrupted education. Being placed into a Catholic Orphanage, as a quiet child, she could have just withdrawn, especially when her differences were met with suspicion by the Nuns and mistrust by her peers.Yet, she rose above the ridicule and isolation and maintained her passion to learn to sew and make things. Her creativity also enabled her to problem solve and these traits led her to become a respected and much sought after designer.Young children will enjoy the simple text and the laid back illustrations with their rich contrast of colours throughout.I love this series and the adult summary at the end, with real photographs and pointers where to read more about Coco.This is what has made this an enduring selection of books, Little People, Big Dreams, long may they continue.
