5.0 out of 5 stars Great resource & recipe book!!

L. · January 13, 2011

I ordered this book for my daughter and had a chance to glance through it before I gave it to her. Now I can hardly wait until she has had it for a while so I can borrow it!!The book was chock full of history, nutritional facts and delicious recipes - common recipes. Not those that take you to the store wondering where on earth to find the ingredients. It will be great to add to the recipes I already have in our quest to eat healthier using less meat in our diets!!

5.0 out of 5 stars It has a lot of information and great recipes

J. · August 1, 2020

The book has wonderful recipes that are easyAnd very good. I kept it for myself and use it all the time. I highly recommend this one . I needed recipes for beans and it delivers on that.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great cookbook, only....

G. · June 3, 2020

….I need a microscope to read it! I wish I had known that before ordering, but now that it's here, I guess I'll just squint my way through it-I have to say that the recipes look delicious, and easy enough for those of us who don't fancy ourselves to be gourmet chefs! Plenty of pictures, a great variety of recipes using different beans, grains, and pulses, and they use ingredients that you won't need a passport to go find-I have already picked out a couple to try. Four stars, due to the tiny print.

3.0 out of 5 stars This book could do with a change of title.

A.C. · October 12, 2023

This book should be called “The Big Beans AND GRAINS Cookbook.”I anticipated getting a book where every recipe would have beans/pulses in it. It does not. It includes a lot of recipes with wheat, rye, barley, polenta or rice as the primary ingredient and NO beans at all. (Since I have to eat gluten-free, many of these recipes are almost completely useless to me.)Other reviewers are correct about this book having very small print (though not as bad as I had feared… I would say it’s about a 9-pt font size), and it’s also true that many of these recipes would need to be modified by anyone looking for vegan recipes. All that being said, the book is quite nice. It contains a lot of content. The content is logically presented and well laid out, and there’s a gorgeous color photo of every recipe.

5.0 out of 5 stars Lots of good recipes

M. · September 21, 2020

I've already picked out several recipes that I think will turn out great. I like the overall depth of recipe choices. will be trying one out this weekend.

Its more than a bean book. Rice, pastas, whole grains too.

A wide variety of recipes in this cookbook. I've looked through it several times and there are lots of recipes I can use.

Great book

R. · April 7, 2022

Everything you need to know about cooking with dry beans.

Easy to follow and great results

H. · December 10, 2024

Liked the fact that the book gave us as well as metric measurements. Very easy recipes with obtainable ingredients and great results.

BEWARE - this is the same book as "Beans Grains & Pulses"

C.J. · February 26, 2022

This is a great book and worth buying - lots of really useful information, nice format and great recipes with pictures. However, beware this is the same book as a hardback version by the same author published in 2013 titled "Beans, Grains & Pulses". The contents of both books are identical. I was disappointed when this arrived as I already have the original book and was looking forward to receiving another great book of recipes from Nicola Graimes....

I think recipes are a bit complicated.

A.C. · May 14, 2022

no what I was expecting, some of them are too complicated and many ingredients.

Tiny Font & Complex Recipies

S. · September 7, 2022

If you are a senior or do not have perfect eye sight you will likely find the tiny font size used in this book very frustrating. If you are looking for quick and simple recipes, this book is not for you. The name of this book should be changed to 'The Tiny Bean Cookbook' The current name is very misleading. Disappointing.
