Mark Waid and Chris Samnee are the dynamic duo team of comic book creators. Batman and Robin Year One was a joy to read and I hated to see it come to an end. The artwork was top notch and complemented the story so well.

my first comic book read of 2026; honestly loved it. Mark Waid ; batman ....period; all the goodness you expect and much more; Chris Samnee art matches the story and there is a single issue 2 replacement colorist for Matheus Lopes, overall the art is consistently spectacular and adds joy; one of those nice cozy batman-robin comfort read to make one feel good about life; highly recommend...

I loved this book. I did not particularly like the Batman Year One series, but this one was perfect.Bruce Wayne had adopted young Dick Grayson. Joined by a familiar tragedy but these two could not be more different and the differences will force each of them to change.A new player has entered Gotham. However an old player could be pulling the strings. Gotham is a city at war and Robin has been enlisted. Is Batman ready for the responsibility of not just a partner but a son?I am so used to seeing Dick Graydon as the together hero he has become. It is interesting to look at the transition he has made from his circus to society. He is raw and hyperactive. He leaps before he looks and never worries about the fall.This is a great book. Loved all twelve chapters/issues. Great artwork, great story and character development. The book finishes with a varient cover gallery.

Mark Waid delivers a brilliant take that modernizes the Batman & Robin dynamic while still capturing the charm and spirit of the Golden Age & man oh man, Samnee is FANTASTIC! In my opinion he's one of the best comic artists today. His art style is so expressive & full of personality, it's a joy to look at!

I’ve read most of the Year One titles and this is up there with the best of them.It also captures the nostalgic feel of The Long Halloween in terms of mood, story and art work whilst bringing it’s own style.My only gripe is that I felt the core mechanism regarding the villains and associated plot was a bit weak and some of the other threads and themes could have been explored a bit further but…the writing and the development of the relationships and characters regarding Alfred, Batman and Robin was first class.Some of the guest covers are almost worth the entry price on their ownEnjoy

Came quickly and in great condition. This is honestly the best Batman comic run in years. The writing and the art are both perfect. A friendly starting point for new readers whilst containing references for more experienced readers.
