I binge-read this. It was so good. The book was delivered in great condition. The pages are nice and glossy and display beautiful art. The book had awesome writing. It was so cool to see the twists on the characters we have known for years. The writers did an awesome job incorporating backstory while progressing the main arc. This helped the book to flow and not have any dull points for me personally. I got the hardcover edition, and it was well worth it. There are some pages in the back that showcase all the different variant covers that were released with the single issues. This helped to make it feel like I wasn't missing out waiting for the trade to come out. The book ended in a cool way that has made me extremely excited for the next trade to come out! Highly recommend this book!

Excellent introduction to the Absolute universe and even Batman, with a fresh spin rooted in the same ideals and small twists on well established characters.This volume feels very "satisfyingly" complete as a stand-alone story too, no massive cliffhangers.

I was hesitant to buy this book. I am a big fan of No Man's Land, Knightfall, and that sort of Batman. But some people I trust recommended it to me, so I gave it a shot. I was not disappointed.This is an exciting take on Batman. Bruce Wayne is born to an everyday family, so it takes away a lot of options that traditional Batman had. One of those options is restraint. Absolute Batman doesn't kill, but he is not opposed to irreparable harm or disfigurement to killers. It seems like there is more planning and creativity. I can't wait for volume 2.I also want to mention the quality of the materials. The dust cover is cool, the pages are strong, but the binding, ... oh my goodness the binding is amazing. The cover is both resilient and heavy, yet supple. And the feel of the book is wonderful. My teenage daughter is a bibliophile like me, so when I went to describe how excited I was about the quality of the book, I instead placed it in her hands. She went from preoccupied to smiling ear to ear.I am really impressed.

I’ve always been a massive fan of the Batman universe — seeing Bruce Wayne, a wealthy elite, use his seemingly unlimited resources to better his world and the people around him was aspirational and even awe-inspiring. In fact, when I was younger, I thought that was the crux to why I enjoyed Batman. However, given today’s political and social climate, where civil unrest, wealth inequality, and oligarchical power is on the rise, it hardly seems inspirational anymore to look to the wealthy or powerful leaders for answers.So why does Absolute Batman, the same superhero but set in an alternate universe where Bruce Wayne grew up in middle class Gotham, appeal to me just as much, if not more? I believe it is because even though Batman’s origin story is so different, perhaps more importantly, his values remained the same. He still loved his parents, and wanted to make them proud through acts of kindness and justice. At the very core of Bruce Wayne is his humanity, which is shown through his intelligence in gathering and using resources, instead of being given them, to deftly defeat crime and evil, rather than negotiating with it. In a way, his superhero identity is earned more so than in the original universe. I’d highly recommend anyone to give this a shot. It’s different, but in a meaningful and optimistic way.

This series is an amazing deconstruction of Batman, showing how it was never the money that made Batman, but Bruce's brains and willpower. Going to be eagerly reading on and enjoying the new takes on certain characters in this Absolute universe.

Awesome for comic lovers
Pretty good comic
For some reason it was hard for me to get invested in the story while I had no problems with the other absolute titles, but after first two issues it got really good.

Gotham en proie à la violence et un Batman d'une dimension aussi monstrueuse pour remédier au mal par le mal. Ce premier arc est vraiment une droite en pleine face, hyper spectaculaire mais aussi attendrissant sur la manière dont le jeune Bruce Wayne a vécu un drame qui fera de lui celui qu'il est devenu, notamment dans la relation avec sa mère. Cette série a fait l'objet d'un tapage médiatique énorme. Franchement, elle le vaut bien. Vivement le second tome.
