There are not step by step process photos but a few so may not be for the beginner artist. But there is a full list of color palette, mixes used for those hard to decipher areas, drawing reference for transfer and full page photo reference of finished painting! I cannot wait to paint my way through it.

This is a phenomenal book for any watercolor artist who just enjoys other artists paintings or who aspires to become better! It’s filled with beautiful pics of paintings with info on what was used to achieve that painting. Beautiful book!

Everything was explained in simple and understandable terms. My favorite part is the back pages that assist you, enabling you to sketch out your outline to paint. Excellent!

I purchased this because it includes tracings which are really helpful if you don’t want to draw everything you paint. However, other than the tracing and a list of paint colors there is very little instruction provided. I will get some use out of it but wish it included more in the way of lessons.

PROS: Beautiful paintings.CONS: So many reviewers said this book is great for beginners, and I bought it on that premise. I consider myself a seasoned beginner, and there is no way this book is for beginners. As a seasoned beginner, I couldn't even paint the pieces in this book! I would say this is more for an advanced artist, and NOT for beginners. Beginners will find themselves VERY frustrated because very little instruction is given, (i.e. no step by step instructions) and each painting is minimal or non-existent on how to achieve the desired paint mixing colors. You're left trying to figure out on your own how to mix your paints to achieve the right colors. That is a skill that is definitely NOT for beginners!Also, the book says it includes full-sized tracings to trace the sketches, and this is very deceptive. Full-sized tracings are normally that; tracings of the sketches found separately in the book. However, their idea of full-sized tracings are taking the finished piece in the book, and then trying to trace from the photo, and NOT an outline as most books that advertise tracings. This is a huge downer because most of these paintings are not ideal to trace from the finished piece! If they are advertising full tracings, then it needs to be that, FULL TRACINGS! This is false advertising, in my opinion.Very little instruction, if any at all, is given on how to actually paint the pieces. You're left with the reference photo of the finished piece trying to figure out the techniques used, and the order of layering the paint to achieve the desired effect. Again, another skill that is NOT for beginners.All in all, if you are a beginner, this book will frustrate you to tears. If you are more advanced, don't need tracings, know a large selection of painting techniques, know how to mix your own paint to achieve the desired colors in the book, and know how to draw reasonably well, then this book is for you.

Awesome for beginners!
After reading other reviews of this book, I ordered it and am pleased to say it exceeds my expectations. Even though I don't struggle for inspiration, I DO struggle with scale, proportion and shading when sketching freehand. This book gives me images that I love that I can copy. It also lists the colours required for achieve a true likeness of the image chosen. Other little tips and tricks of the trade are included to help you along the way. So whether you're a beginner like me, or simply stuck for inspiration, this is the book for you. I really do love the style and variety of all the images and therefore think it provides excellent value for money!
