5.0 out of 5 stars It's About Time! A Great Collection To Kick Off A Great Line
Finally! With their new "DC Finest" series, DC is giving readers an easy and affordable way to collect characters and runs in a manner similar to Marvel's Epic Collections. Fans have been waiting for this for a long time, and this Batman run is a terrific place to start. Beginning in the "Post-Crisis" period of 1986, these Batman stories collect classic tales of the Dark Knight across both the Detective Comics and Batman titles, to include the beloved "Year One" (and the less-beloved "Year Two").If you're new to Batman, these stories are a great place to start. And if you're a veteran Batman fan, you'll definitely want to add this to your collection as well. I highly recommend picking this one up. Personally, I was thrilled that this included some of the issues illustrated by Alan Davis that I have found to be difficult to find with previous collected editions being out of print, and so these issues along with Year One (with I think is the original coloring!) made this a no-brainer. It did not disappoint, especially with the high page count and the nice paper stock (I think it's the satin paper - I like it).I look forward to collecting more of the DC Finest Line, particularly the silver and bronze ages. This is a fantastic place to start. If you like comics or are interested in Batman, you need to add this to your shelf. Enjoy!

Big fan of DC Finest collections. Affordable with classic contents. Smaller than omnibus and compendiums so easier to handle. This is a nearly perfect collection. Year One is one of the best Batman stories. Year Two is fine but flawed. The rest of the Mike Barr issues are some of my all-time favorites. They are so fun and the Alan Davis art is perfect. Topped off with the Batman Annual by Alan Moore.

It's a really nice version to start on the Dark Knight story, although my recommendation is to try to get this one with other items same size/shape, my copy got DMG by whoever packed it (see pictures) they don't care and don't place items in a smart way, since they're not their stuff. The 1st picture shows a stain that removed easily, and you can see the DMG on the last 2 pictures, and I'll keep it, I don't wanna get a worse copy and this one is not has special has others.

Yes as the cover says this book does indeed reprint years one and two, along with several other Batman stories from November 1986 to October a years worth of great dark knight stories and adventures. For a great price, if you have read these before but not for a long time or you never have seen them this is your chance to see the Bronze Age closing down .A great read.

Coming from a manga-reader's background, I've never understood why Marvel and DC don't make it easier for people to read their stories chronologically from beginning to end, and now DC is starting to do just that. I love the idea and the execution and just hope they can keep these in print, so they don't start costing outrageous amounts on the second-hand market like some of the Marvel Epic Collections do. It also seems like it's going to take an absurd amount of time for DC to get around to releasing the entire Batman line, but hey you take what you can get.

Classic Late 80's stories, pre-Knightfall and all that that entailed. The centerpiece are the two story lines: Year One and Year Two (duh, I know it's in the tittles on the cover) and these provided the foundation for the post-crisis Batman. The artwork is solid throughout, even Todd McFarlane's capes which cover as much area as the city of Manchester, New Hampshire. Loved reading the Mad Hatter flips his lid again, very convenient to have these stories in one volume, especially if you are looking for a "beater" copy rather than dig through your back issues.Only one complaint and it is not the books fault: The people at Bolo packed this with another graphic novel that I ordered, no filling in the box, and the open pages facing each other so bother jammed together several times during transit. Be nice if they put at least some brown paper between the two volumes and have the spines facing each other.
