Peter Brukner is a Sport and Exercise Physician and Professor of Sports Medicine at La Trobe University, Melbourne, Australia. He was the founding partner of the Olympic Parks Sports Medicine Centre and a President of the Australasian College of Sport and Exercise Physicians. Peter has served as Australian team doctor at the Olympic Games and FIFA World Cup. He was Head of Sports Medicine and Sports Science at Liverpool Football Club before spending 5 years as the Australian cricket team doctor. Peter has been awarded the Medal of the Order of Australia (2006) and the Victorian Government’s Outstanding Contribution to Sport award (2024).

Karim Khan is a Sport and Exercise Physician and Professor at the University of British Columbia, Vancouver, Canada, and Scientific Director of Canada’s Institute of Musculoskeletal Health and Arthritis Research. He was Editor of the British Journal of Sports Medicine (2008‒20) and holds honorary doctorates from the Norwegian School of Sport Sciences and University of Edinburgh. Karim is an Officer of the Order of Australia (2019).

This is the sixth edition of the longest running most classic sports medicine textbook ever!I have been purchasing each edition of this book since the second edition and applaud the editors and the ever expanding author group on the constant updates and refinement in this constantly evolving field .traditionally, this book until the fourth edition was a single book with well over 1400 pagesIt is now been divided into three separate books and this book is specifically targeted at new graduate sports medicine doctors and Sports rehabilitation professionals such as physiotherapist and sport therapists who are new to the field of work .I am always impressed with how much they update each edition , including a modern approach to the biopsychosocial principles of sports injury management and rehabilitationThe contents are very comprehensive, including everything is needed to take an athlete or team sports player from the plinth to the podium👍I have worked in professional sport including rugby union, Olympics and Commonwealth games at the highest level and I always travel with this book when working 👍Thank-you to the authors for doing a great job and staying up-to-date and current in this rapidly changing fieldA must buy 👍
