She comes from very girly roots but has somehow morphed into an outdoor exploring, dirt loving mom of 4 boys, and couldn’t be happier about it. She is married to a man who keeps her on her toes but keeps loving her even when she leaves all the cupboards open and clothes on the floor.
They have bounced across the country from California to Virginia and Arizona to Michigan, but have put down roots in Utah and can’t get enough of the gorgeous mountains, family-friendly lifestyle, and enviable four seasons.
When she is not writing or mothering, you can find her in a good book, volunteering in the schools, or on a walk with a friend. She has a weakness for gummy candy, sunshine, youth sports, and family travel but also find magic in the ordinary moments that have become rather sacred in our fast paced world. Meaningful connection with family, friends, strangers, and God is central to her life and where she finds purpose and joy.

Love this manners book for our kids, and its a great refresher for adults too. We keep it on the kitchen table and it has sparked so many great family conversations. Such a fun way to remind us how to work on our manners, kindness and respect for others. I would totally recommend getting this book for your family. Get a couple extra to give away as gifts.

Not just for teens; reminders we could ALL use! I agree with it all and in a day and age where I think it can be hard to learn manners and social skills, this little flip book is helpful. I'm even learning new things like "hey, they're right: my kids should be making and managing their own appointments!".

I gave this to my 14-year-old nephew just as he was getting ready to start high school. Understandably, he was nervous about it. After stumbling across this book, I knew it would help him and decided to give it to him. A little worried he'd be resistant, I added a note to the front before handing it to him--"Just a few helps to make life go more smoothly in high school and beyond." He eyed it skeptically at first. But after cautiously glancing at a couple of the pages he said, "Oh, I see. These are common sense things that it's good to be reminded about." Yes, some of them were reminders (good for all of us!). And some were things he still needed to learn.The book has had an amazing effect on him! The next time I visited a few days later, he was obviously applying some of the things he had learned from the book. Straight out of the book. He didn't know I knew, but I knew! :) What a change! While I hoped it would help him, I had no idea it would have such an impact. The best part is how much more confident he has become in the last few months. I'm sure this book isn't the only reason--he is just growing up and it's a wonderful thing. But the book has definitely been a game changer for him. I wish I had found it earlier, although he might not have been as receptive if he hadn't been so nervous about starting high school. Either way, I'm grateful to have found it. Thank you, Ms. Romney.

Honestly so good. A really easy way to openly talk to your children about how they should behave in certain situations, but without it being a lecture or a telling off. We have it on the table and a couple of times a week will turn the page and just have a family discussion. I love the format of it too, as you flip the pages the writing for the discussion topic is in the back of the previous page. It’s just really clever and we love it!
Coffee table worthy
Quality paper and stand! Love that it is two sided with plain text on one side and a little more interesting font on the other so you can choose. Looks good enough to set on the coffee side table in my family room reminding the teens the tip for the week every time they pass it.

Love love love this! It’s everything you’ve been trying to teach your kids about being an awesome human being. Each week is a well thought out and well worded synopsis of how to deal with both everyday situations and unpleasant situations teens find themselves in.We even keep it at the dinner table and take turns reading it. I especially like to read it when my kids have friends over just in case they need the advice too.
A great way to subtly teach our teens important manners!
As a teacher, I have noticed changes in kids behaviours over the years and "Modern Manners" is a wonderful support to busy families to ensure that their children know how to behave politely. I love that these manners are simple but effective. The stand format of the book is an AMAZING idea! I sit this stand with a new manner each week on our buffet next to our dining table. The kids notice it and we don't have to spend a long time discussing the manner of the week. I also LOVE the TYPOGRAPHY of the manner pages. The font is sophisticated enough that I'm okay to leave it out on display, but the size differences and placements of the text make it stand out for the kids. This is a great resource. I have a teen and a preteen and it's hugely relevant for my boys today!
