5.0 out of 5 stars LOVE this book!!
I LOVEEEE this book. My friend had this book and told me about it so I decided to get one for myself and it is amazing. I would read a chapter every night and every time the topic or theme would relate to me and make me feel sooo good. I love the questions and challenges at the end of each chapter! I am now making my mom read it because I loved it so much!
5.0 out of 5 stars LOVE THIS BOOM!!
I LOVE this book so much. I have read it a couple of times because it has so many good things in ithat help you feel better about yourself.
5.0 out of 5 stars Unique, engaging, and empowering
Loved this book! It is engaging and fun to read while also packing a punch with practical advice and insightful encouragement. What is especially unique and amazing about this book is its empathy. Brooke is down in the trenches with women and is so vulnerable and real as she shared funny, touching, and very relatable stories, realizations, and struggles from her life. Reading “I Like Me Anyway” is like hanging out with a best friend who cries and laughs with you, who isn’t afraid to call you on stuff that is keeping you stuck, and who always leaves you feeling understood and empowered.
5.0 out of 5 stars I absolutely love this book! One of many highlights is the chapter titled "Ditch the perfect!"
For anyone struggling with comparing yourself to your perceived perfection of others and not feeling like you are enough, you should read this book. Brooke is an incredible writer with a real perspective on how we can feel free and empowered through Christ to let go of our own ideas of perfection. With complete honesty she writes about her own failures, insecurities, eating disorder and experiences which were so relatable to me as a woman, wife and mother. Brooke helps us all understand how to recognize the hand of a loving God who is always there for us every step of the way and how TRYING is everything to Him, not perfection. Brooke was truly inspired when she wrote this book. I have been recommending it to all of my friends who have struggles and need a lift, which is 100% of my friends!
5.0 out of 5 stars Easy to read and relatable
Brooke's genuine writing style makes this book easy to read. Reading felt like having a conversation on the couch with Brooke. I read on my Kindle and I was highlighting every other paragraph. I found Brooke's stories to be easy to read and relatable. I was laughing and crying right along with her as she shared the ways she has learned and grown in her life. The best thing about this book is that it's more than just a good read but also has exercises at the end of each chapter with things you can do to apply what Brooke shares. This book can actually help you make change in your life. I will be sharing this book with all of the women I know.
5.0 out of 5 stars Relatable!
I was a little skeptical to order another "self help" type book. So I followed Brooke for awhile on Instagram and LOVED almost everything she shared there and when I heard a clip of her book I decided to order it. I am happy to say it is actually a very relatable book. She's very honest and vulnerable and shares stories that get her point across without being self righteous. I have learned a lot from this book and really love the simple challenges at the end. I would say this book has positively influenced me as a mother and a friend and a member of society. Thanks Brooke!
4.0 out of 5 stars Hopeful and Real
Not usually a fan of this genre but the book was upbeat and well written. I liked the use of personal stories to make a point and how everything tied back to a gospel perspective. It wasn’t unique advice or original but the concepts were good reminders on how to focusing Christ.
5.0 out of 5 stars My teen loved this!
I bought this for my 13 year old who had been going through a rough patch with friends and self esteem. She devoured it in 2 days! Brooke has a way of writing that makes you feel like you’re out to lunch with your best friend or older sister—empathetic, conversational, wise, and non judgmental
Impactful and Worth Your Time
Such a practical and meaningful read that I’ll be going back to often. My 14 year old daughter loved it too!
Brilliant Author - but a lot of Mormon content that needs sifting…
Brilliant author & beautifully insightful overall content. BUT… it is worth being aware the author is a Mormon and refers to the Mormon scriptures & Mormon specific practices - that are not canonised in the standard Christian Bible - A LOT! I was personally able to filter these parts out and still hugely benefit from the really good universally beneficial thoughts & content on key topics & issues. But it might be off putting & scary to some people if they were expecting it to be a mainstream Christian book. So just be aware depending on your own personal comfort factors if this is something you are ok with. For instance I wouldn’t feel able to gift this on generally to other Christian friends. But I personally found a lot of the content super helpful & useful.
Wonderfully written
Brooke did a great job writing this book. It's written like a good conversation with a close girlfriend. She is encouraging and uplifting as well as bringing the spirit with her. It's an easy conversational read.
You need this!
The best book I’ve read in a long time. Each page reaches into my heart. Brooke makes everyone feel like they are not alone and of worth. I couldn’t love it more ❤️
Misleading
There are definitely some positive, uplifting messages in this book but I felt it was misleading. This book is written from an LDS perspective, not a traditional Christian one. There is a common message of faith, but that is from a doctrine that I don’t prescribe to as I am not Mormon. If you are of the LDS faith, then this book will be right up your alley.
