The Forager’s Guide to Wild Foods

Description:

319 color pages, 400 wild foods, plant localization maps for each plant (400 maps), paperback, great print quality, superior plant identification guidelines, recipes for each plant, full page photos of the plants, at least 3 pictures for each plant, medicinal uses.

The Forager’s Guide to Wild Foods is probably the most important thing you want to have by your side when you go out foraging. Maybe there are times when you're still not sure about a certain plant and you need to consult the book, despite your vast experience. Or maybe you don’t have experience at all and just want to find wild goodies using the book.

This book is the
ultimate resource for every home, kept right next to your emergency foods, in your Bug out Bag, on your coffee table, or in your bookcase. You can use this book to put food on your table in case hard times are coming ahead. This knowledge is better at your fingertips now, as you might not be able to get it when you need it the most.

You can also
use the book to make your own remedies from plants growing around you. Inside The Forager’s Guide to Wild Foods there are hundreds of medicinal plants and detailed, super simple instructions on how to take advantage of them.

A lot of high-priced foods you find labeled as ORGANIC, are nothing compared to the ones that grow in the wild.
Wild foods mean no GMO, no pesticides, herbicides or harmful contaminants. There are no foods healthier than the ones you pick yourself in the wild.

This is
FREE food and it’s completely up for grabs.

The plant knowledge is no longer taught as it has been for thousands of generations before us.

If we don’t do something about it, this knowledge will be lost forever and one day we might pay the ultimate price for this.

When you were growing up, it was probably your parents or grandparents that helped you identify your very first berry..

The Forager’s Guide to Wild Foods stands out as a valuable hybrid between a foraging field guide and a gardening/resource cookbook. Its strengths lie in detailed plant descriptions, edible uses, and ample safety guidance. If you’re a gardener curious about incorporating wild edible plants or a new forager seeking solid structure and practical advice, this guide is an excellent addition to your library.

I hadn't been able to find the book.....because my wife, The Master Gardener, filched it and hid it in her bookcase before I could get it. But She said that it is a good academic study. And she kept it. Although she grows more of the commercially grown plants from anywhere in the much of the USA and some other countries like Australia where we recently traveled. From my brief look at it, it appears to be well organized and if you first Identify the plant, from the book pictures and description in the book it's index will get you to the information about the plant's edible parts, qualities, medicinal uses, benefits and how to harvest. Each plant refence comes with a plant picture and small map of where it grows in North America. There are 11 pages of index with about 1500 plants listed. The descriptions are What it is, Flower, Leaf, edible parts, Medicinal uses and How to Eat

This is one of the best books that I have found on Bolo. I love that it shows pictures to identify all the edible foods that are around my property. Plus is also shows possible poisonous look a likes that could be harmful if you don't identify the right plant. Gives tips on how to check if its edible or not. I love this book. Everyone should have one.

ABSOLUTELY FANTASTIC BOOK!! Bought this book along with the "Forgotten Home Apothecary: 250 powerful remedies at your fingertips". One of the best purchases for anyone who would like to learn about how to forage wild foods. Wonderful photos, descriptions, edible parts, medical uses, how to harvest, and poisonous look-alike info! I will be ordering all her books.

5.0 out of 5 stars Good introductory level stuff.

The nature of a printed photo makes some of the plant images too grainy to discern their actual appearance relative to the photo, but they are generally large and varied enough to be useful for plant identification. The graphic depicting typical locations where they can be found in the US is also helpful. Describing plant uses and identifying features for such a large territory is an ambitious undertaking and I feel like the authors have done a good job of capturing the highlights. If you try to use this book for any length of time, you may find yourself longing for something more regionally specific or more detailed about plant uses. However, I do like the way the information is presented and there is quite a lot here.If you're debating between this book and one of their others, I also purchased the lost book of herbal remedies. Between the two, if I could only pick one book to carry with me on a survival outing or something, I would go with the lost book of herbal remedies. This books is probably more useful when attempting to ID a plant, but the other is more helpful at knowing what to do with them.

I purchased this book thinking that it was as advertised. However, when I received it, it was much smaller. I contacted the seller and they were very helpful. Even though the book is not exactly what I hoped for, I am very satisfied with the customer service that I received. Thank you Jakeypoo.
