I have quite a few books about genealogy including books on using DNA to find your missing ancestors, and by far "Your DNA guide" by Diahan Southard is my absolute favorite! A must have for anyone struggling to find a missing ancestor using your DNA cousin matches. The way it's written reminds me of the "Choose your own adventure books" I read & loved as a child! In the short time I've owned it (maybe 3 weeks), I've not only sorted all my paternal matches, but I'm on the brink of figuring out who my paternal grandparents are thanks to following one of the plans in the book.

This book is a must for any serious genealogist. Using it, I was able to find three sets of 3rd great grandparents who had been missing form my family tree for years. One set was on my father's side, and two sets were on my mother's side. These ancestors had stumped some of the best genealogists around using only paper trails. Identification would have been impossible without DNA and this book.

Your DNA guide - the book, achieves its aim of providing a step-by-step guide to finding solutions to the various DNA questions we experience when trying to trace our relatives and ancestors. It helps you put into practice the steps needed to solve your specific questions.A highly recommended book that answer your specific questions directly, without having to read the whole book.

Very well written. Each page is colorful and easy to understand. It hasn’t broken down any genealogy brick walls for me due to a lot of issues with endogamy and DNA matches not responding. But it has helped me get a little closer with my research and I keep it handy whenever I am working on my family tree. The outline and guides in the book works much better with my husbands side of the tree due to very minimal issues with endogamy and his DNA matches will respond.

Diane Southard knows her stuff! DNA is a complicated subject for anyone and while there are many good books on the subject, this one takes you by the hand and leads you gently through what steps to take now and in the future to achieve your DNA testing goals. Highly recommended.

If you want reviews of the five dna companies, this is it. If you want genuine scientific dna facts, skip this overpriced book. If you have a basic knowledge of genealogy research and dna, skip this book.
Unreadable to say the least
It was disappointing to find such a weird formatting on an ebook. The way it was formatted makes reading it a stressful experience and works against the good content it offers.
Easy to read and apply
Having done a webinar by Diahan Southard and liking her practical style, this book is very straight forward and easy to read and follow.
Top quality book, I refer to it daily!
Loving this book as I follow the writer on all her social platforms (I'm not a stalker, honest!)
Interesting
A very interesting and thought provoking book. I've taken a ancestry DNA test and got some thought provoking results. I've been thinking about putting me test results into another tester but didn't know which one after reading this book I've got a couple and also I'm now looking at other tests I can take that this book has highlighted.
