I really liked this writer's style, and it was perfect for the early-intermediate Latin reader. I also learned a lot about Leonidas. The price might seem high for a very short text, but when you think about how much learning and work has gone into composing this story in Latin, I think it is well worth it, especially when Latin books for early-intermediate readers are not easy to find. I also really liked reading the preface and the author's note at the back, both in Latin. The author's note featured slightly more advanced Latin, which I enjoyed. It may also be beneficial to use this story as a way to get used to reading without macrons (except ablative 'a'). I have just ordered 2 of the author's other stories as well.

My high school 3rd years loved this book. It gave them much to talk about and some interesting historical facts to consider, such as Sparta's double kingship.I highly recommend those for those reading Latin on their own or with classes.This would be good for the Summer between 2nd and 3rd year or for 3rd year classes.

Interesting and readable story. I would rate this book as appropriate for the intermediate Latin reader (2nd or 3rd year). Caveat: Only the ablative a’s have macrons.

Proprio quello che serviva
Questo libro ci é stato consigliato da una professoressa di latino/storia alla fine del primo anno del liceo linguistico. A mio figlio spaventava un po’ l’idea di tradurre un libro dal latino, invece é stata una piacevole sorpresa. Non é lungo anzi: metà libro é un mini dizionario latino- inglese/tedesco ( ma meglio utilizzare il Castiglioni/Mariotti per velocizzare la ricerca nelle verifiche e per trovare tanti sinonimi in favore di una buona traduzione) l’altra metà é la storia con illustrazioni, mappe ecc... il livello del latino é perfetto per chi ha fatto solo un anno di questa disciplina. É utilissimo perché fa memorizzare le funzioni che si incontrano più spesso, le parole più diffuse e ci si allena con tempi, pronomi e modi di dire senza ritrovarsi in frasi troppo complesse da decifrare. Per chi deve ripassare e rinforzare le basi é l’ideale!
Verständliches Latein und gute Zusammenfassung der Perserkriege
Das Buch hat mir sehr gut gefallen. Es ist in einfach verständlichem Latein geschrieben, sodass man auch nach zwei Lernjahren schon viel versteht.Besonders das Thema hat mich interessiert - Leonidas, ein Verteidiger Europas. Seine heldenhafte Aufopferung wird ausführlich beschrieben, und auch andere Schlachten der Perserkriege werden angerissen.Das Buch hat auch ein sehr schönes Cover und ein paar nette Illustrationen :)
