5.0 out of 5 stars The book I wish I had...
(function() { P.when('cr-A', 'ready').execute(function(A) { if(typeof A.toggleExpanderAriaLabel === 'function') { A.toggleExpanderAriaLabel('review_text_read_more', 'Read more of this review', 'Read less of this review'); } }); })(); .review-text-read-more-expander:focus-visible { outline: 2px solid #2162a1; outline-offset: 2px; border-radius: 5px; } Back when I started taking classes for electronics way back when, this is the book I wish I had. The classes I took went the traditional way of teaching the theory, and offering the occasional lab to reinforce the lesson. This book takes the opposite approach in that it teaches electronics from a very practical "hands-on" approach and then explains the theory behind what is going on in about as non-intimidating a manner as is possible. Personally I'm a kinesthetic learner, that is I learn best by doing, so this is the sort of book made for someone like me. The author in fact expects the reader to make mistakes and "smoke" components as he feels that is one way to learn, and it works. The math is minimal, and as long as the reader can do basic functions (add, subtract, multiply, divide), they will be fine. Likewise, this doesn't cover much in the way of theory, no Kirchoff's Law, Thevenin's Theorem, etc. It's just a very basic primer with the idea of exposing the reader/user to electronics on a functional/practical level, see if they like it, and the idea is to move on from there. For those who have been in the field a long time, obviously understanding the theory is indeed very important, and there are good texts available for doing that. Again, I emphasize that this isn't the goal of this book however... it's made for a rank beginner with no knowledge and just a curiosity to learn. Taken from that perspective, this book is a success!Highly recommended!
5.0 out of 5 stars Doing is the best way to learn.
They're right, this is the best way to learn, by doing. Not just plain electronics but also new and improved devices in little kits to show how they work and how to understand what's happening. Thick book, lots of information.
5.0 out of 5 stars Another quality Make book, recommended
I enjoy all of the Make books. They are for everyone from beginner to pro. I am old school and like holding and reading. I like to have reference material to lay in front of me if I need it rather than going to a website or forum. Books are very informative, packed with information and easy to find topics and read. Keep up the great work!

5.0 out of 5 stars An Electronic learning guide for anyone.
If you’re looking for an exception book on learning electronics then look no further. As a hobbyist that enjoys making circuits, I can tell you that not only were they fun to build but explains the theory of operation without complicating how it works. I highly recommend this book for anyone wanting to understand basic electronics and much more.

Se ve bueno
5.0 out of 5 stars Very exciting book, a real page turner. Couldn’t put it down!
I’ve never learned so much from a single book before! Highly recommend this as well as getting all the parts from protechtraders. The learning journey would have been so much more tedious if I tried to wrap my head around shopping for all the parts separately. It’s true it probably costs a bit extra but it’s worth it! And now if I ever need any parts I’ll be less overwhelmed and know exactly what to get!
5.0 out of 5 stars Hands on, very complete
I have read lots of books on electronics. This book is the best electronic book I have every read for beginners
easy to read
(function() { P.when('cr-A', 'ready').execute(function(A) { if(typeof A.toggleExpanderAriaLabel === 'function') { A.toggleExpanderAriaLabel('review_text_read_more', 'Read more of this review', 'Read less of this review'); } }); })(); .review-text-read-more-expander:focus-visible { outline: 2px solid #2162a1; outline-offset: 2px; border-radius: 5px; } being a person with little knowledge of electricity and components .The way that Charlse Platt has written so that a person like me begins to have an understanding of how electricity and electrolytic components work.
Everything is good
I haven't start to read yet. Quality of the book is good
The book has everything you need to know
Book is very helpful
Burn Thinfs Out , Mess Things Up ; That's How You Learn
Good Book, Learn a lot in just a few days of reading through. The best way to learn is with a component and test it together while reading the book. Instructions and components needed are clearly stated. Auture left out the math so that you could do research and figure it out yourself.
Simples sem ser inútil.
Bem sequenciado, bem diagramado, fácil de entender.
