This is a great book for Sherlock Holmes lovers. Bought this last night as a gift for my mother in law for Christmas. It arrived in less than 24 hours after purchasing and packaged goods. No damage to the book from the seller and Bolo.Definitely buy this book while it’s still on sale now. I was hesitant after seeing a few bad reviews and one where pages were missing. I skimmed the book and everything is there. But their review was the paperback and I got the leather book.I also peaked off the price tag from the back. I was worried about damaging the book but surprisingly, it came off like butter. Just the initial comer you have to lift up and after that it’s a slow easy peeling process. Just to help ensure it doesn’t cause damage. But I think if I didn’t go slow it still would’ve been fine. No damage or residue at all.

This book is beautiful. Gold leaf pages. Hardcover. Embossed, textured cover. Fabric strip bookmark.And of course THE STORIES! I honestly believe reading Sherlock Holmes helps readers learn to think logically.Of course, the stories are great. They do keep you guessing, and sometimes you may even find yourself helping Sherlock out a little bit. This is a classic, and if you are a Sherlock purist, this edition is a keepsake.

You can never go wrong with Sherlock Holmes.. Die hard fan here.. So much so that i have read the entire collection atleast 10 times now.. It never ceases to amaze me still.. Wife is an avid reader and goes "Why would you read it like a text book trying to cramp it up for some exam".. Well, what does she know? :DPros --1. Character development -- Sherlock Holmes's character has been developed with a lot of detail and attention. You hardly know much about his family and roots and as a person it almost feels like i meet him almost every other day.. That engrossing (partly one of the major reasons why i hated Robert Downey Jr in the Sherlock holmes movie).. Dr Watson's been given a lot of attention too and he plays an integral part in being the narrator for the entire storyline.2. Mystery plots -- a simple theft / murder situation is resolved with such unconventional methods that it brings a smile of satisfaction on the reader s face, nodding at the same time in approval of the detection methods. Sometimes, these do feel far fetched (Ex: identifying person s area of living based on the mud on the shoes) but i would amount that to having extensive knowlegde in geology (i might not connect with it at times though).3. Gripping -- one of the most important reasons for repetitive reading.. the story plots are so very well laid out that despite remembering what happens eventually the reader keeps reading just to visualize and live in that world.Cons --1. Seriously?.. wouldnt have read it 10 times else.. (lets just say this is like a kid to whose faults a mother always turns a blind eye to)..2. this particular book on kindle does not list the individual stories in the content list.. There is double indentation and Kindle cannot resolve it apparently. Big Big disappointment but i there are other Sherlock Holmes books that handle that issue well.

Holmes goes to Hatherly Farm, the scene of the murder, to investigate.“The Man with the Twisted Lip”—Holmes and Watson try to discover the whereabouts of Neville St. Clair, who has disappeared without a trace after last being seen in, of all places, an opium den. The suspense and tension in the dark room towards the conclusion was top notch.Also included: “The Red-Headed League”, “A Case of Identity”, “The Five Orange Pips”, “The Adventure of the Blue Carbuncle”, “The Adventure of the Engineer’s Thumb”, “The Adventure of the Noble Bachelor”, “The Adventure of Beryl Coronet”, and “The Adventure of the Copper Beeches.”Holmes’ methods of deducing are almost always fascinating and entertaining. He is an astute and keen observer of human behavior, and pays attention to every detail in his surroundings. Watson makes for a great sidekick and ally to Sherlock Holmes, and his narration really makes these stories tick and work in a way that would be much less effective with an outside narrator.The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes by Arthur Conan Doyle is a wonderful collection of Sherlock Holmes stories, some of the most popular out there. A collection like this is the best way to start reading Holmes. Sherlock Holmes’ fans will want to also check out A Study in Scarlet as well as The Hound of the Baskervilles, full length novels.
