The instant New York Times bestseller

The only thing worse than fearing a monster is falling for one…

Kierse McKenna just shattered the Monster Treaty.
Again.

It wasn’t entirely her fault. The job was supposed to be simple: steal a goblin-made bracelet off of the Queen of the Nymphs in her own palace. Trade the bracelet for a way to uncover the truth about her past. Except everything goes sideways.

And then
he shows up to save her.

Graves―the warlock who ensnared her, betrayed her, and left her to fend for herself. He’s a villain. A monster draped in charm and shadows. And gods help her, he always knows
exactly what she wants.

But Graves never does anything for free. He has a job for his favorite little thief. One that will pit her against the most powerful monsters in existence, including his mortal enemy, the Oak King.

An ancient artifact has been located, and only together can they hope to steal it. She just has to let him in.

But once she lets a monster in, he’s impossible to forget…and even harder to resist.

The Oak & Holly Cycle series is best enjoyed in order.

[...] I cannot say enough good things here, you just have to read it to experience it. [...] I thought we got a lot of representation in book one but book 2 really knocked it out of the park. [...] I’ll admit it... I was emotionally destroyed and cried. [...] I cannot recommend this series enough…”

“When I tell you this book is just as captivating, if not even more captivating, [...] [as] book 1…..hold onto your seats!! [...] oh my gosh the ending. I need book 3 already because this is just amazing!!!”

5.0 out of 5 stars Utterly captivating

Utterly captivating. We see character growth, plot development and deepening of love and friendships with grand heists and much adventure. An emotional roller coaster for the reader. The prose is snarky and eloquent at the time it's needed. I need resolution now. Mind the cliffhanger ending.“She felt the jagged pieces of her begin to pierce her skin. The ache and the pain and the horror of what she had experienced hit her full-on.”

4.0 out of 5 stars you dont want to miss this read!

" Can you trust the dark, when you know that it lies?".The story picks up just a few months after book 1 left us flabbergasted. Who can kierse trust, can trust even be rebuilt? Who even is she or what is this new magic? The action, twists, world building, and secrets continue as kierse gets ready for another hiest, and of course another monstor treaty broken. Yet do we ever find out the true source of her power, and can she reach her potential? We get glimpses into fave characters, as well as more new ones to fall in love with. We dont just follow kierse, but we follow the growth of even her friends. if you thought you disliked Lorcan in book 1, be bracing. Our fave Shadow Daddy, Graves, did not disappoint, and we even see more into his own self/history. The spice was giving, but when that man said "my wife"... I instantly melted, and it never let up 🫠. The plot development made me feel i was reading a movie that I didnt want to end. On that note... Mrs. Linde... that ending! Ma'am, we need book 3 asap.

5.0 out of 5 stars Kierse yes! Can’t wait to see the Robin

D.B. · September 30, 2025

Oh how I so loved this book and the characters the twist and turns. I really enjoyed Kierse growth in this book as she ventures out to explore her powers and gifts of being fae or as part fae. The struggles of the juggling of who or what to believe from monsters to trolls and demons. Where does she fit. Loved this adventure and the friendship she finds along the way. Next please I want more. The ending though please!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great story line

4.0 out of 5 stars Graves is the perfect mmc

s. · October 6, 2025

Picking up several months after the *events* of book 1, Kierse has been on her own trying to learn about her magic and heritage as well as scoring a new heist. The plot was plotting, the lore was loring, the heists were heisting, and Graves, the perfect mmc, good lord the mouth on that man 🥵 the romance btw he and Kierse was expertly crafted, they both obliterate anything that comes at them. They both are hyper independent due to trauma and abandonment but learn how to let each other in as well as the people in their circles. Kierse’s journey towards healing made me tear up.Possibly spoilery without giving away events: This is not a love triangle as Kierse’s choice is apparent since book 1, however, the antagonist needs to get that through his thick skull. 🫨 The differences between Graves and he who must not be named are staggering. Graves learns from his mistakes and actually puts in the work to change and be better for Kierce, (Mr. Darcy vibes) proving that she can trust him and going so far as to give her power over him. The manchild on the other hand, uses fake charm and trickery to try to obtain what he wants and if that fails he’ll try to take away Kierse’s autonomy by force. Eff that guy. Here’s wishing a slow torturous demise for him. 🥂 You can feel the differences as you read bc Graves’s energy is so grounding and calming vs the manchild- nothing but confusion and chaos.Oh and I thought the ending of book 1 was bad, well this one left me completely gutted. Can’t wait for book 3!! 😅
