Carmen Crowe is a pen name for the creative team at Cottage Door Press. We use a name like this when we work together on a story. We choose a name that stands for "red bird," which is our cheerful little mascot.

My just turned three year old has always been very much into books and would sit and be read to for hours if she had it her way. So I wanted to have an electronic read aloud device for her. I was not impressed with the stories on the typical cheaper readers (i.e. the Disney princess and Mickey Mouse ones). The stories are basic and bare bones. If your child is used to reading longer, more well written and detailed stories, those would be a snore. I went with this reader because the stories seemed to be longer and more advanced. I was right - this is perfect for her. The stories are just the right length (done in 4-5 minutes I would say). My daughter takes a while to get the hang of certain electronic toys and this one she figured out very quickly. It is very intuitive and simple to use, and makes a pleasant chime sound when it is time to turn the page. There is an option to do songs and my daughter loves playing these and dancing around. The sound quality can actually be quite loud if you want it. And it is very clear. My only criticisms would be 1) I wish the stories would be read a tad bit slower and 2) I wish the illustrations were more interesting and detailed but these are small factors. Overall this is a GREAT set for kids. I read somewhere that it is for ages 2-5. A two year old would probably be too little to really enjoy this; I would say this is probably ideal for ages 3-6.

Such a great way for kids to listen to songs and stories! Our three year old daughter likes to take this in the car. She sings and dances with the songs at home. She likes reading the books each night. Do wish there were more pictures in the books. But she still enjoys them.

Purchased for a gift and they love it. What is nice is they can follow along with the book. I deducted a star because if you want more stores you need to purchase a complete new player/books. Not very Eco Friendly.

My kids love these. They’re great for car trips. I love that they get my kids into books. We have the fairy tales one, Daniel Tiger one, and the Bible stories. The songs on this fairy tales one are weird but whatever

This is our second take along reader and we absolutley love them! They're so easy for kids to use, travel well, the stories amd songs are clear and loud enough for everyone to hear. We ansolutley love these!! They make the best gifts too!

Item received was used and damaged
Item was delivered and had been used before by someone else: the screw that holds the battery cover was so badly damaged already that it was impossible to unscrew it.Useless item and the return window was closed a while ago since i got it in advance for my daughter for christmas.
Sound quality is terrible
Better off to spend bit extra to get a better reader
