Just what I needed!!!! My grandmother was just diagnosed with vascular dementia, and I was at a loss as what to do. This book is very well written, easy read, yet packed with How To's and suggestions not only as to what to do but also what to say and not say. It's also very real, the author is very honest and realistic as to what can happen, everything I read was just what was happening, and the suggestions really work. Another thing that was really useful was the definitions at the begging of the book really helped me understand what dementia is and what it is not. I recommend this book to anyone who has no idea what to do when facing this new stage of their loved one's life. Dementia is really frustrating and confusing for all involved, this book helps deal with that and help the caregivers process their emotions and gain a positive perspective and avoid mistakes.

4.0 out of 5 stars Very good book.

If you buy just one book to guide you through the world of dementia caregiving, this is the one! Written in a warm and friendly style, it’s packed with practical information for whatever stage your loved one with dementia might be in, and for whatever you, as the caregiver, might be thinking and feeling. The author speaks from her years of experience using real-life examples to help with understanding the many aspects that will inevitably be encountered such as behavioral issues, daily living concerns, legal and financial needs, and end-of-life care. While all of that is incredibly informative and offers excellent guidance, her support for the caregiver’s needs is worth the price alone! She offers humor, empathy, compassion and understanding throughout.
