5.0 out of 5 stars Easy to carry for travel

A.S. · June 9, 2025

This is a very good travel guide to carry around throughout the day while you’re touring Florence. It’s not as comprehensive as some of the thicker travel guides, but it’s small and easy to carry. Good maps, too! It’s a good supplemental guide but I recommend also purchasing something that is more comprehensive and can be left in the hotel each day. This is a quick and easy reference guide.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Information

N. · September 26, 2025

As always RS books are helpful and full of good information and tips plus a paper map of the destination. The book also suggest key phrases that can be used to help you in and around Florence.

5.0 out of 5 stars Self walking and museums guides + tips

4.0 out of 5 stars Why schlep a “pocket guide”?

M. · January 20, 2025

The book’s not bad, but it’s nowhere near as good as the excellent “Rick Steve’s Florence and Tuscany”, even if you just want to know about Florence. Forget the “convenience” of a pocket guide. The greater depth of information and background in the unabridged version is a much better read. Then, when you know what you want to see, why schlep a ‘pocket guide’ when you’ve got your smart phone?

5.0 out of 5 stars Don’t travel without it!

B. · April 14, 2025

All of Rick Steves’s books are incredibly comprehensive and offer great suggestions for hotels, dining, personal tour guides, how to skip the lines at museums and tour sites, and so much more. We have traveled with Steves’s books for years and they are extremely helpful. We buy two for each location and literally rip pertinent pages out of one of the books for specific places while on the road. Don’t leave home without it!

5.0 out of 5 stars Florence and the Renaissance...

H.W. · August 23, 2023

The Italian city of Florence was a centerpiece of the European Rennaissance. Much of that flowering of innovation in art, science and architecture is still on display for the enterprising traveler. Travel writer Rick Steves has the details in this Pocket Guide to Florence. It turns out that many of the attractions of Florence are within easy walking distance of its magnificent core of Medieval and Rennaissance buildings. This guide offers practical tips on what to see and when to go. A nice collection of color photographs, maps, and diagrams show the way.As with other Rick Steves guides, read the whole book before committing time and money. There are lots of practical suggestions on when to go, where to stay, where to eat, and how to enjoy it all. Very well recommended to the enterprising traveler.
