He also writes for Rick's public television series, produces audio tours on Europe, and is a regular guest on Rick's public radio show. Outside of the travel world, Gene has co-authored The Seattle Joke Book. As a composer, Gene has written a full-length opera called Matter, a violin sonata, and dozens of songs. In all honesty, I was a little skeptical of this book before I got it. However, I need to eat my words. It is awesome, amazingly helpful, easy to use, funny and altogether fantastic. The walking tours are outstanding, the descriptions of specific works of art are right on the money, and Rick’s hints on alternative ways to get tickets to the top museums were a trip-saver. Don’t hesitate! Buy this book and it will make your trip to Florence 100% better.

Bought / borrowed from library a few books but this one is the only I used. Updated and very good practical tips. Good descriptions. I found Rick Steves guides for any European destination are the best

Second time buying this book just to check updates and new places to visit in Tuscany for a trip coming up. Rick Steves is the GOAT for places to see stay and eat at in Europe. We own many of his books and buy themFor our friends travelling. Can’t go wrong with any of his suggestions.

We had a few ideas of what we wanted to see and Steves tips helped us plan which locations to stay in, what to see and how to make the most of our trip when we get there.
