“Filled with
projects your kids will ACTUALLY want to slow down and make, Alexa's book is an approachable introduction to sewing either by hand or by machine for kids who love to be creative and build things themselves. 5.0 out of 5 stars Nice product!

Good introduction book for a young sewer. Perfect addition to the sewing machine she received from Santa this year. Easy enough for a kid to follow along and feel independent.

5.0 out of 5 stars Book 5 stars, but Access to Patterns Confusing

L.M.1. · January 12, 2025

The book is amazing (more on that later). The process to get the patterns is less than ideal.Because many reviews state that they can't access the patterns, I'll share what I found. To get the patterns, there is QR code. You scan it, and it takes you to a request form where you put in your email and choose your product from a list. Here's the key, in order to receive the patterns, you have to check the box saying you want to receive emails. We tried multiple times with multiple email addresses before realizing that box was for the downloads and not to sign up for newsletters. After that, the patterns arrived in our spam folder in about 5 minutes. The book itself is amazing. It has hand-sewing and machine projects. The projects build on each other and give kids multiple opportunities to practice a skill. Our kids (girl and boy) and are excited to get started on the projects. I have the very basics of sewing and have not felt confident about teaching them how to sew, but this book makes it very doable.

Beautiful graphics. Instructions are age-appropriate. I bought it for my seven year-old granddaughter. I think it’ll work for her as long as she has help from an adult.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good

Good resource to help start teaching kids to sew. Lots of information and beginners projects.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great for teaching children

K.C. · October 28, 2024

I loved how easy it was to show my grandchildren how to start sewing. This was their first attempt at trying to learn about sewing. I actually used it for my 5 year old granddaughter and my 8 year old grandson. The 5 year old had a little trouble keeping her attention, but I was so pleased that she actually learned how to thread a needle, make a knot, sew on a button, and learned a little bit of running stitch and whip stitch. My 8 year old grandson was able to stay on task a lot better. He was thrilled with making his own stuffie by drawing and coloring muslin and then putting that with felt to back it, and stuffing it.

5.0 out of 5 stars No patterns available, but the author will email them.

M. · September 30, 2024

Loved the book, but without the patterns it's not worth much. My 9 year old granddaughter and I figured out a pattern for the felt flowers, but it took so long to figure out that we couldn't get the patterns. Does anyone know where we can access the patterns? I'll try to contact the author.I contacted the author and she emailed me all the patterns.

3.0 out of 5 stars No patterns!!!!!

My 10 year granddaughter was excited to see this book and immediately started working on a project. She came to show me her craft and said- there was something about a qrc code and a printer but I didn’t have either one so just made it up myself!!!What in the world? Where are the patterns? This is a children’s book! The ideas and explanations are fine but other children’s books I’ve purchased come with patterns.

5.0 out of 5 stars Easy for kids to follow.

M. · February 24, 2025

Great book to guide kids. The projects seem easy to follow. I may buy the book with the spiral later. It’s hard to keep the book on the desired page.

Great book

M.P. · May 21, 2024

My 7yr old granddaughter wanted to learn to sew. I got this book for her and was quite impressed. Very detailed and well done. She is so excited to start making something.

Patterns mentioned but no longer available online

C. · August 5, 2023

I purchased this book through my hubbies Bolo account and noticed no patterns were provided with the book. When looking at individual projects they mention patterns can be downloaded from a website. I’ve gone to that website and requested the patterns twice two weeks ago and received nothing. This makes the book pretty useless.

GREAT starter book for kids/beginners

N.L. · December 27, 2019

Hadn't realised all the initial reviews were essentially publisher reviews! However, the book has arrived and I can honestly say this is A GREAT book! For kids/beginners.Bought for my 9yr old daughter for Xmas, this book is full of basic instruction and really good ideas for projects, all of which are achievable with only a little assistance from me!Her and her sister have already made a couple if fruit shaped pin cushions and have now ordered material for a beanbag for the cat to sleep on!Would highly recommend.
